Due Wednesday, but hints leaking into the media already, will Heseltine's review be applauded or brushed aside?

One item which has been a long-standing rant of mine is dual-layer local government. We have way too much local government in this country and any support for doing away with a layer is a good thing, IMO.

I just don't believe we have a political party with the appetite to take the task on.

Report published today.

Handing more taxpayer money over to the LEPs would be just about the most disastrous waste of cash possible

Laudible ideas about blocking foreign takeovers where they are not in the best interests of the UK - although this bureacracy in itself could easily be abused or backfire - but I;ve yet to see anything that relates to real businesses - SMEs. So it's business, or not, as usual as far as politics goes.

I think the real point is regional growth (or lack of), it is a major concern for UK plc and whatever you say about LEP's at least he's trying to get the debate started.

Heseltine; no stone unturned.
Hunter S Thompson; no turn unstoned.

I know which way I'd vote.

Since UK companies buy far more businesses OUTSIDE UK than foreign companies buy INSIDE UK you can safely say that would be a very big own goal!

Blaming "foreigners" for everything will not solve anything.
