The lack of Gallery is annoying, because I can't even use the Photos app that replaced it. Every time I try to open it, I get the message "Unfortunately, Google+ has stopped.", and it closes. I installed QuickPic instead for now.

That's my only complaint with Lollipop so far, though.

With the Photos app if you open the side menu you can just tap on " On Device " to only view the pics stored on the phone. It means one extra step over the older Gallery app, which shouldn't be a big deal, but it does actually make things feel slower for the user.

Before it was 1) open Gallery app 2) tap 'On Camera', whereas now it's 1) open Photos app 2) tap Menu 3) tap 'On Device'.

Where I am with work it makes no difference to me really, as there is top flight Wi-Fi and 4G everywhere, but I did realise as soon as I'm home for a visit it'd be a PITA because I'd only have 2G and 3G and no proper Wi-Fi or broadband connections.
So you can see their thinking for the future, where if you run a smart phone or similar device it's presumed you always have a connection. Which would be nice, but not the reality in many areas.

I extracted the apk of the KitKat gallery before I updated my N4. It works fine on Lollipop.
Could I ask if there's any chance you could PM me that link too please ? It'd be greatly appreciated !

I got hold of a copy of the Sony Album on my Nexus 4, much slicker than any other gallery type apps I've used so far. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/themes-ap...

To back up my N4, for reference later when/if I need an app from KitKat, which directories should I copy?

Drop me a message and I'll email a link to it on my Drive.

The new photos thing is definitely st.

You need to go into Settings->Security and check "Unknown Sources" It'll as you to verify its ok.
Next download the APK and tap the notification telling you its finished and it'll install from there.

Sent you and Corso Marche a pm to share the APK.

If you think you'll need an APK from KitKat you can extract the APK using APK Extractor, dead easy to do and it stores the generated APK on your device. I uploaded the APK to Drive and then downloaded it once I'd gone over to Lollipop.

Gah, want to get my N4 fixed up now hehe or get a second hand 16GB one...

Has anyone tried replacing the touchscreen? Looks like a bd of a job.
Yep. Got the phone at launch and then dropped it about a month later! Most annoyed. Was a bit fiddly but easy enough. Hardest bit was getting the battery out as it's glued in place. It bends a little... but still worked alright. Depending how old the phone is I'd be tempted to put a fresh one in at the same time.
Good shout about the battery.

For the screen replacement, would the below do the job, or are there any recommendations?

Has anyone had problems with calls dropping out post lollipop? I've lost two calls tonight that I think I may have cut off when the phone was tucked under my shoulder? It may just be a coincidence but I'm wondering if the screen is activating then the phone is moved?

Whats the crack with the bluetooth changes.

I thought i'd read somewhere if it's a regular bluetooth it stops the screen from locking or similar?

I have it set to connect to the car, which it does as it always has. Screen still locks though so I can't see what the difference/improvement was supposed to be.

You need to set the trusted devices in Settings -> Security -> Smart Lock

I still haven't had the OTA Lollipop update for my N4. Is there anything I can do to encourage this apart from self-loading it?

the only way to speed up the OTA notification is to clear your Google services framework and check, then repeat again and again and again. You will "jump the queue" for the OTA update but you will also mess up loads of your Google apps. If you don't want to side load then best to just wait.

Got it all up to date a couple days after release, anyone found it's a good deal slower coming off the lock screen and opening apps now?

Other than the extra swipe before entering the pin code not noticed anything..

The bag mine was in on yesterday's ride leaked though so got home to find the phone sitting in muddy water inside the bag frown 24 hours above the boiler cupboard in a bowl of rice though and it sems pretty much ok. Ringtone/notifications are still quiet but everything else seems to be working ok now.

Just confirms my preference for the next phone, Z3 Compact.

Evidently, yes!
Further to this, my Nexus guzzled power alarmingly over the weekend and by Saturday evening was extremely warm to the touch (to the point where I was worried about lithium run-away). It's back to roughly normal after a series of reboots but is taking an age to charge (was initially charging a lot quicker on Lollipop).

Anyone experienced anything similar?
