I've had this before, mostly when i used to go to the gym or cycle years ago. I'm getting it again now whereby in my thighs i get an itching sensation after i've exercised. It only seems to go away after rubbing really hard on my legs or pounding on them.. Anyone else get this? What is it and how can i get rid of it?!?!

I'd imagine it's sweat or rubbing related so either talc or vaseline before training for a while may work.

I'm not 100% certain but I don't think 'pounding on your legs' to cure an itch is a good idea?

The thing is, the itch feels like its inside my leg not on the surface.. The only way to satisfy it is to rub extremely or thud the leg.... Seems to go away when the leg is straightened.. But at work when sat down this isnt always possible !

Do you warm down and stretch post leg exercise?

I get this all the time in my thighs! Your right that the only way to relieve it is to rub or whack your legs!

I tend to get it after a busy day at work where I have been running around more than usual!

ge0rge I've had this too in the past though its been in my chest. I've described it as a tickle rather than an itch and like you it feels as if it's affecting the surface of the muscle/tendon on the inside and you can't do anything to scratch it.

As it was chest related I mentioned it to my GP whilst on an unrelated visit - he informed me it was due to muscle doing something post exercise. I pay more attention to stretching properly now and hydration and it seems not to be a problem at the moment.

I'm no Doctor but I do know pregnant women get something similair and it's due to some kidney function or other. It can get so bad that they literally peel their own skin off.

I suspect, if my hunch is right, you kidneys might be chucking something out due to dehydration...

I'll await an expert view to see how wrong I am...
