My late father had a hiatus hernia but none of the symptoms you're describing. Get yourself to a doctor would be my advice.

I'm on daily Lansoprazole 30mg and have been for the last 3 months - I take it first thing in the morning as soon as I get up. No side effects except for needing to drink more water during the night as I'm thirsty and my mouth is dry.

I use Gaviscon double action liquid formula just before I go to bed, which tends to work quite well. If I wake a few hours later and feel I need another dose I take it. You can't take indigestion remedies 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Lansoprazole...I play safe and make sure it's 4 hours either side, only because one time I left it close to the 2 hour stage and the Lansoprazole didn't seem to take much effect.

I'm currently waiting for an endoscopy and colonoscopy appointment to be made to see where the problem lies - I have an appointment with a consultant next week and hope things will progress from there. I had blood tests which have shown 'problems', high ESR and some strange blood clotting which the GP didn't understand. I've been ill since July.

I'd suggest you ask for blood tests, endoscopy and colonoscopy tests to be carried out. If it's anything like the Bedfordshire NHS it will be months before you get it.
