Let's face it Thailand is just too far to travel for this years Race of Champions and after the fun we had last year with a track very loosely based on the ROC concept, I thought this year I ought to do it properly. Thanks to all those that helped.

It is mounted on a 9'x5' Table Tennis table (which is on wheels) so it also folds through 90 degrees for storage against the wall when not in use.

There are a couple of videos from testing but the circuit and bridge were unfinished. I will try and do one with it all complete soon.

How do you deal with the track connection when folding it? Do you have any folded pics?

The table is a two piece rather than a typical butterfly design so it rotates clockwise through 90 degrees as you look from the cameraman's POV. I will sort some storage pics once the flyover has been secured to the table.

Sorry about the quality, mobile phones and artificial lighting don't mix well. At least from this you get an idea of how the cars lap the circuit. Just like 1:1 ROC the start/finish straight is covered twice each lap and is the only place you can really tell who is in the lead.

Hi Duncan,

The track looks fantastic!

It appears that the "inside" lane is struggling on the first inner hairpin, the white car stops a couple of times.

Is it a case of the radius being a bit too tight for that car .... or is it power / joint issue. If it's the latter putting down copper tape might improve things .... if the tracks going to be a keeper, then maybe taping might be a good idea anyway.

Hi Simon
It's just these particular cars, they are Carrera which have a much larger guide than other brands. I have trimmed them a little already but it looks like they could do with a bit more taking off. Good advice about copper tape though, I have heard that it eliminates continuity issues.

That video/track looks ace, that coupled with the vintage rallycross set I picked up for £2 last week has inspired me to put together a layout, I may have got a bit carried away buying cars on ebay before having any decent track. Annoyingly I gave away 5 layouts worth of sport track two years ago.

Moved it indoors today so here is a pic of one of the tables folded and on the move, plus a few other angles.

I like the use of a table tennis table.

I dislike this thread though. As since reading it at the start of November I've managed to acquire 17 cars (7 of them digital) and a large digital layout. I still haven't ran any of it but the layout is a large Jadlam one with a 6 car powerbase and about 70 bits of track.

I just need some time now.
