Hi!

Just a couple of questions I hope you CMDRs can help with biggrin

1. Is there a way of selecting the hyperdrive rather than super cruise? Sometimes I find I'm travelling quite a distance on super cruise with no option of hyperdrive (from Eravate to Dalton Gateway yesterday took a while!)

2. I've noticed the 'mod' for changing the HUD colour, does this have any adverse effects on other parts of the game in your experience as I was reading that it can interfere with the Galaxy map etc?

Cheers and good travels!
1. Nope, you're stuck with supercruise. Not sure why they picked such a horrible system to put new starters in, the distances in there ruin the game. Try to find a base away from there, plenty to choose from depending on whether you want to trade, bounty hunt, etc.

2. I haven't used it so no comment.

I spent last night doing the seeking luxuries thing in Beta Sculptoris. After a while the closest traders (the ones in the video) broke - after you jump in on them they disappear so you can't cash in your goods. Tried three times then gave up and started using the traders slightly further away which worked fine, just added another minute or two onto the travel time. Earned about 3 million credits while watching Cosmos on the other screen, pretty happy with my profitable and informative evening smile

Yep, working again. Maybe there's a limit to how much you can sell to them. Funny how it counts as smuggling rather than trading.

Neither of them are finished so it's up to you biggrin

I prefer ED at the moment because there is more to do, but before it came out I was perfectly happy pootling about on SC learning how to fly and shoot things. I suppose it depends how much time you're planning to spend playing because SC is still a long way off and you will probably get bored of the alpha stuff quite quickly if you put a lot of time in to gaming. You could play SC for a bit, then if you do get bored pick up ED later on which may work out better because it will hopefully be a lot more polished by then.

Cheers, just read up on the Dalton Gateway and appears I am not alone in the hyperdrive confusion!

Good thing from the journey is that I am now based at Lawson Outpost and I'm making easy money from collecting floating canisters and selling them on the black market, made enough to get a well kitted out Eagle which has made bounty hunting a bit easier!

Haha, great video biggrin

Funnily enough I did google him and his antics are quite notorious. I'm looking forward to having a pop back, especially as I plan to give up my cargo of biowaste for him. Eat st!

OK so I have a hauler, a T6 and a Cobra and have been trading since I got the game but getting a tad bored now. Time for some combat but which ship?

Do I stick with the Cobra and if so what upgrades/load out would you recommend or is there a different combat ship I should be considering? Just want to fight solo and so NPC's for now.

That's a bit like asking in GG for track day car suggestions, but not telling them you need it for commuting and you only have £2k to spend :P

Depending on your budget and what you plan to do you have a few options. You could sell the hauler, kit out the cobra for combat and keep the type 6 for trading. You could sell the hauler and cobra and buy a viper for combat, and keep the type 6 for trading. You could sell it all and buy an ASP, then outfit it depending on your mood (I'm currently doing this currently and it seems to work ok).

If you plan to go back to trading though don't sell your type 6, or if you do make sure that your replacement can trade. No point losing money on hull sale every time you want to change 'profession'.

Well I have about 2 mill cash I think. I will keep the T6 for space trucking as it can be a handy fall back plan to earn money when everything goes wrong smile

I suspect, with my funds, the Cobra is the one but what is the best or preferred load out for it?

Is there anyway to visit your stored ships and sell them without actually going to that space station? Mine are spread about a bit.

Weapons are a matter of personal preference. I use gimballed pulse lasers and gimballed multi-cannons because I like that targetting is easier and I only ever fight in RES and conflict zones. If you fight lots of other commanders fixed weapons might be better because gimbals are susceptible to chaff.

There's no way for you remotely sell your stored ships. I imagine Frontier would tell you it's more realistic that way, that it helps with immersion, that you are better off for it being that way and no they won't change it because to do so wouldn't fit with their vision for the game.

Thanks for the info. I kind of thought that was the case but we live in hope as they say.

The system I was in was Federation-aligned but I didn't get offered any naval progression opportunities. However, as soon as I re-entered some more mainstream space (Zaonce) I was bombarded with them one after the other. I'm now fully ranked up. Had to take out a couple of Dropships as part of the process, couldn't believe how easy it was in a tooled up Asp compared with when I had to do it in a Cobra!

Huh, I've didn't think that you did lose money on a hull sale - it looks to me like you get full value back for them? Or have I been pissing money up the wall?

Sorry, I didn't word that very well. My thought trail was that if he sells everything and buys a viper for combat, for example, that if he then went back to trading he would have to sell the viper to buy a t-6 again, thus losing money when he changes profession.
