After the excitement of seeing the cars going round the Indy circuit at the porsche festival, there is a porsche experience trackday on the GP circuit for monday 6th september, run by heritage.

they do a full day for £295 or 1/2 day for £170, both including a passenger.

sessions in the morning, open pit lane in the afternoon.

www.heritagetrackdays.com for details.

No affiliation, but i will be going along and a few of us have talked about doing the "GP" circuit before.

Upon seeing this thread i have just booked myself on it as brands is my favourite track.
We will be in herman the germans old 968 clubsport which we recently bought back from the current owner and are now keeping for a company trackcar.
Its in the best colour, maritime blue,so its unmissable.
Lets see if this 968 clubsport myth is for real or not!

So did you chaps have a good day, or what?

I'm doing Goodwood on the 15th, Thruxton on the 23rd (that one's for the wife), should I do the GP circuit on the 30th???

Don, I thought the next session on the GP circuit was on the 29/09 and not the 30th ???

Generally a good time was had.....there were one or 2 incidents with radicals buzzing everyone with their own vague interpretation of track day etiquette, which did spoil things a little.

The GP circuit is fantastic, the surtees into hawthorn part is glorious and suits Pork well, you can stretch your legs and there is a lot of track to use. If you haven't done it I would reccomend it before the season is through, especially after you have experienced the Indy already.

There were a wide variety of cars there yesterday, Am V8 vantage, lynx d type, alfa Sz, various caterhams etc, pork RS/GT...even a tiuring car driver out there.

I had to work very hard to keep up/pass; LAD Clio cup, C4,R300 and to my amazement a very hard driven K-N Turbo...the door handles were practically scraping on the track through some of the corners!
I figured it was safer to be in front rather than behind it...not much room to pass when it drifts across the circuit like that..an amazing sight!

Other highlights included an incredible pax lap with Vic C in his awesome 993 Gt2...and also the track debut of the much acclaimed teamlizardracing Golf track slag!
all in all a memorable day.

The Brands GP day is on the 29 September Don - JFDI.

Who have you booked Thruxton with (or is ot one of their own driving experience days)? - that is one of the circuits I haven't yet managed to drive.

The only people I've found who do Trackdays there are GoldTrack...there may be others (RMA?). I am actually using the Race School (Lotus Elise course - fourteen laps for £165).

I am doing this as:

1) It is extremely rare to find a Thruxton Track Day
2) The *wife* is keen to drive.

A Track Day simply isn't suitable for her - I tried it and her pace is so far off the mark that she causes a moving chicane - its dangerous and no fun for her at all. On a Race School day its all newbies *with an instructor in the car* so its kept nice and safe and she can enjoy herself as she won't be getting passed every two seconds.

I am driving *mostly* to keep her Company and enjoy a nice day out with the Mrs. Its also as I am keen to drive Thruxton as I've spectated there recently and am interested. Also instruction is always useful - and I'm hoping that the instructor will be keen to help me go quickly rather than focussing solely on preserving the car...

Its the Porsche Club GB day at Goodwood. Not sure what the db level is but the day is marked as FULL on their calendar I'm afraid.

My Boxster S should be fine with respect to the noise level and, apparently, there will only be five cars on track at any time! (Seems amazingly few...)

Ah indeed a top banana day, one of the best circuits in the UK is not a bad location for a budget track slag shake down eh

Vic- blimey that GT2 of yours, epic I think is the best word for it, the bit that mainly sticks in my mind is Paddock hill bend to Druids- WOW! I felt like I was strapped to Eddie the Eagle with a jetpack

Ps, Joel where were ya old bean?

Pps, yip sodding flippin' Radicals! Normal brisk road cars & hords of flippin' loons in quick Radicals that lap at F3 pace is not really a safe mix IMHO.
