I can get my hands on one of these.

Fuel tank and lines gone, needs a proper bare metal restore, etc.

The cream leather and headlining also need repair, I'm talking about a proper barn find.

The rest is ok, lights, running gear, etc, are all there, BBS split rims and I think the original alloys can be found.

It runs, not run as in an everyday runner but it runs, whilst pissing out fuel on every roundabout kinda runs.

What should I pay for such a vehicle?

Depends!

If you can do a lot or all of that yourself then its worth some money to you.

As an owner it would have some value to me (and I assume other owners) as a spares car.

I took the car to Blyton on Friday to give it a bit of a post rebuild beasting/shakedown - it performed remarkably well. Straight line speed is superb, cornering is just the right side of "aaaaaaaaargh" to make it fun wink

A pic courtesy of Rich at Motorpunk Mag, the car will quite happily cock a front wheel a la Lotus Cortina when provoked!

And a few videos:

Plus this one from PawnSacrifice following me in his 924S

Got a single big bout of oil surge after some rather enthusiastic cornering but other than that it ran perfectly. Now time for a change of oil and then a week today I'm driving it down to the border of France & Spain for a holiday and some honing around the epic mountain roads.

Fantastic.

I'm genuinely really pleased for you, after the the disappointment, hard work and financial expense it's great to see it all paying off at last.

It looks great in that photo too! smile

Cheers Mark, am really chuffed with it.

The tyres (P6000s!) are not great so just looked online and can get a full set of four Michelin Pilot Sport 3 at £280 delivered - they'll be going on very shortly I think!

However, the E12 may (may!) be getting sold in autumn. I've just put a (refundable) deposit on a LHD Porsche 924 Carrera GT that has turned up in France.

If I can afford it without getting rid of the E12 I definitely will, if not - not.

Delighted it performed so well. I just wish I'd managed to have been there!
Here's what your engine looked like nearing completion....

Has it stayed nice and shiny? smile

Yes, absolutely, just as clean. A cursory glance from both hot and cold sees it tight as a drum. Used zero coolant after 600 fast miles (inc 55 miles on track) and about 200ml of oil, about 199ml of that was due to the oil surge wink

Righty ho, last prep of the car is pretty much done now. Am leaving on a c.3000 mile euro trip on Monday morning.

Went over to Michael's workshop yesterday for an oil change after the rebuild as I've managed to get about 600 miles onto it over the last couple of weeks thumbup

This weekend we'll do a test run of loading it up with 2 weeks worth of kit. The kids seem to like the velour, I imagine it will be a perfect environment for them to spit out bits of croissant and half chewed Haribo...

The exhaust is now sitting right after a few replacement hangers and a bit of jiggling.

Now it is just enjoying a few days respite before a fast run down to the FR/ES border via Le Mans & Poitiers on Monday-Wednesday.

Cheers.

This won't help but the car above the E12 in the photo above is this...

Sell a kidney and go buy yourself some silly 70's or 80's German mentalist thumbup

I always fancied a 924 turbo, after a few months with a 924 lux back in the late 80's. I'd have preferred a 944 but they were out of my league. In fact, there was a chap staying in the same Cornish field as I, who owns a lovely tracked prepared 924 turbo that's 2 tone red and black I think? It's a lovely thing and I imagine it would give my M3 a fright.

We have a modern Aldi and I hate the bloody thing. I just don't like modern cars and wouldn't be without something 70's or 80's. Especially on a sunny day in Cornwall. I'm off to the village for fish & chips shortly. A journey of about 3 miles in total? I'll probably do 12 or 15 though, just for the hell of it. smile

I with you there.

My office is a 7 mile round trip, so 35 miles a week. I generally average 200 miles a week, not sure how I do it!

Wonder if that was the TonyBMW car that was for sale when I bought mine. Can't be too many red ones around.

Very well indeed thanks.

Obviously not wanting to jinx things as I'm currently 1200 miles away from home in it wink

Suffice to say we've been giving both cars a bloody good cornholing up and down the best gorges in southern France for 10 days. On Sat we leave.

Via Pau GP circuit. Then Angouleme for Circuit des Remperts. Then Bugatti Circuit at Le Mans.

Roadtrip!
