I've taken the plunge. The Vantage is off to Bamford Rose for an uplift. New exhaust system on its way. Couldn't help but feel like an expectant father when it came to discussing collection from my place. Sorry Adrian / Mike, i'm sure i'm not the first neurotic with an unhealthy obsession through your doorwobble I am however, definitely driving it home myself! biggrin

Yet to have a decent chat with Mike........Exhaust first, there's no hurry. All in the fullness of time. Which probably means I'll be booking it back in the moment I get home!

Nice work.

Did you get your P&J shipped to Bamford, and if so, how far?

I think I'll be getting the exhaust done at some point, but as I live in London it's a bit of a trip to get to BR.

Yep, they are arranging collection from home. I'm not too far from J25 M25 and isn't a problem for them. I have asked that they clarify insurance arrangements once it's on it's on it's way - just need to know who's responsible should the worst happen - haven't heard back yet, but hoping things will happen early next week.

Bit behind with an update.......Mike confirmed safe arrival on Saturday morning with a pic of my Vantage in the B.R workshop. Seeing the weather at the moment, here's hoping that Shipston-on-stour isn't renamed Shhipston-on-sea any time soon! eek

Actually it wasn't too bad there last week after the worst of the weather. But the Lotus does have much higher air intakes than a Gaydon car scratchchin

Just think if your engine does get hydrolocked and runined... you could always get your insurance to pay out for a 5 litre unit instead...

I was kinda hoping that the transporter driver would wreck the clutch. Unfortunately, he was far too professional for that!!

Well a few days turned into a couple of months.........probably not the first on here to decide that staying in the warm clutches of bamford rose for a bit longer would be no bad thing. Much has been said already about the exhaust upgrade, so needless to say the journey home was epic. Like everyone else has noticed the car just feels alive; it's more responsive, has much improved torque and needs noticeably less down changing on inclines. In summary, it's as if the car has just been cured of Asthma!

Oh, the noise........yes, the noise. I was coming to that. Mike set mine up to be either full fat shatter windows mode or stealth. Well, I say stealth but only relatively speaking of course. The driving experience can now be described as more of an attack on the senses than ever before. But what is clever is there's no drone - it just sounds great!!

The other part of the job was paint. It was in need of a bit of a tidy up along the bottom of the bumper and the leading edges of the rear wheel arches. I had obtained a few quotes ranging from £4k (no prizes for guessing who supplied that one) to a few hundred pounds for a smart repair. One local and very reputable body shop declined the job because they couldn't guarantee a good enough match so after a chat with Mike it was over to B.R to sort. It transpires that the previous owner (most likely) had tried to do the right thing by having his smart repairer keep on top of any minor chips. All very commendable until it comes to spraying a larger area and then getting an exact match becomes a bit of a pain. It seems that just having the correct paint code isn't good enough when it comes to California Sage Green - it has to be Dupont and that's the end of it. Clearly this hadn't happened, so short of an entire respray agreed to do what was necessary to get it looking pukka.....and they didn't disappoint! I then had the full venture shield treatment, so what with Christmas, work and then the weather, yesterday was the day that I finally clapped eyes on it after 8 weeks away. The paintwork is now fantastic, the colour match is brilliant and the depth of shine is superb. It really does look as good as the day it rolled out of Gaydon, although with the upgrades, it's much more rewarding to drive and it definitely sounds better.

I now have an additional button that says "sport" but I'm seriously thinking about changing it to "Fun" Thanks to Mike and the team for keeping me informed throughout the whole process and for doing such a professional job.

Hi, Rob & I saw your car at BR y'day & it looked great! I bet you had a great drive home. Now ours is left in Mike & Adrian's capable hands again for a little bit more magic. Couldn't be without it for as long as you so hope to collect in about 3 weeks time smile
