getting a bit of paint on the old /young girl. About time
Hi Richard,

My painter gave me the advise for matt painting in the engine departement. As you did.
Reason is that however I have put a lot of effort in preparation the end result is not as he outside of the body.

Are you happy with that detail/result ?
I am hesitating?.

Hans

In the garage this evening;
And I finished the engine cover but I did that earlier but see new little things to rectify every other day.

what are the specs of that 302 engine for that Griff 200?

and what wheel you gonna use, wire or alu wheels, I think alu wheels can handle a bit more?

New MC's in place, and pedal position seems to be about right. Then it's on to the new upper wishbones

Been busy lately, my new engine was apparently part of a forklift football match by TNT, "...it tumbled a little, and is now leaking oil..." - no thanks.

The porsche 986 calipers did arrive in good condition, but need quite some modification of the upright to fit, new floating disc's is allo on the way.

And a thumbs up for Ben Crisp from TTV Racing, he's been very helpfull in the process of designing a new flywheel, and selecting the right clutch components (will get an sachs E34-M5 presure plate with either a cerametallic 6 puk disc or a combination disc with organic material on one side and cerametallic on the other.

So hopefully a busy christmas, and the front suspension and brakes sorted by new year

Just made a new invention :-)

I'm replacing my front top wish-bones, with my patented S-bones, more space for larger rims/more ET and adjustable in both camber and caster (or perhaps I should have been an artist rather than engineer)

And now it's time for new brakes. Calipers loose 1.8 kg and discs 1.5 kg, further an increase in cooling and diameter from 286mm to 300mm, and from one piston to 4.
Time will show if it's works and if the balance for the car get screwed

looking good, nice upgrades.
I also have used such Brembo's but then with 2 legs on the calipers, also on BMW spindles but then M spindles, slightly different ofset.

For the type you have there are already brackets sets for sale, I had to make some my own for that set.
here with 345x28 mm CSL and the brembo's for 28mm, the brackets can also be changed L to R then the caliper comes on the more top instead of this bottom side.
Tis is on e36 M3 or Z3M spindle>

You can see good quality brake discs as firstly they have a cylindrical ground surface finish rather than Turner but most importantly they have the cris cross effect where both the top and bottom part of the grinding wheel is in contact with the disc showing that it is perfectly square as it is cutting smile.

body work biglaugh
Late in the process I altered the engine compartment.
Cut the footwell for a box to put the battery in.
Nicer position and lowered the gravity.
Had to finish it quickly because now with the bodyshop (again).

That will be good when finished. I'm thinking of one of the small thin batts may be behind passenger seat ? Not in the engine bat any how. Richard

Hi Richad.
Surely a even nicer solution.
However small bateries do not fit in my budget.
Show us the end result.

Cheers.
Hans.

:-) prove that I didn't invent that solution for adjustment. Teh reason I've made the form a bit "organic" is to clear the droplinks for the ARB. They are are ready for paint not, pictures after mounting to come.

Richard,

Your brake disks look interesting. I've never seen that little slot concept before. Why did you select this type, over drilled or slotted?

Best,
B.

Good question!!! To be honest no bloody idea ? Hans supplied them come from hi spec as a package at a good price etc come recommended by the griff boys so hopefully be ok. May be you can tell me. Thanks richard
I haven't a clue, to be honest. Only guesses. I know the function of cross-drilling vented rotors is to alleviate gas pressure, between the pad and rotor, and slots are supposed to help with clearing dust particles. I suspect someone decided that it was 'better,' for some reason, to use more, smaller slots, presumably to do a better job evacuating particles, but more likely to counteract some drawback of the longer slots. Maybe this configuration is less detrimental to brake pad life.

Best,
B.

very nice, is there enough room (headers/chassis) for the movements of the engine? otherwise you can always go for stronger/stiffer engine mounts/rubber.
I see you also made some sort heat shield, well thought over.
