Hi Chaps

I have just bought a 1/2 size Porsche 935 bodied Go Kart for my son to drive at Le Mans Classic. I am having trouble building it as it all seems to be bespoke. It would appear to have been built in the 80's but never completed. All i know is the guy that built them was from the Cambridge area but have no idea apart from that.

If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Thanks

Ben

I guess it is the black 959 convertible? A fair way from being a 935...you can find it under outdoor toys...search for 'porsche'

right stumbled across a couple of things that might help you....

in the 963 barn find thread that i posted up about, there is a picture of the pelican parts workshop that shaows a half scale 936 in jules livery.

on the other thread on this car a guy on here called fatboy69 mentions it as his mum has one in her garage. here's his profile:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?h=0...

i suspect if it is one of the half scale replicas it may be very different but it's worth getting in touch to find out. iirc at this years classic there were a couple of mini 936's that were more of the same scale as yours, so it could be similar?

if not perhaps get in touch with pelican to see what there's is?

The one my mum has is exactly the same - or at least appears to be - as the one pictured in the 'barn find 962, article.

From memory they were built by Porsche & were sold via their dealer networks with only a few being sold because of the cost of them - around £12k each which was a lot of money in those days.

The car moves under its own power although I cannot remember what motor is fitted under the bodywork. I am sure it is some sort of space frame chassis & I think it had an automatic gearbox fitted as well.

The car my mum has is also painted in full Jules livery although I believe that Martini liveried versions were available as well.

The boss was teetotal he would not have bought a Martini liveried car hence he got the Jules liveried version instead.

I would have had the Martin liveried version however it wasn't my money being spent!

When I am next at my mums I will have a good look at the car & post some further details about it.

I do know it's not for sale as one day it will be given to my son.

The guy I bought it from had 4 of them in various states, the yellow one and the green one. I wanted yellow for some bizarre reason, so the green isn't actually mine but identical other than the colour.

I saw a Jules 936 for sale but they wanted €26,000 laugh !!!

I doubt mine was officially sanctioned by Porsche. I will contact the guy at Pelican as he may be able to point me in the right direction!

Thanks.

heres the pics of the 962/956 body, i sent some to ben the op earlier. it does look really bad in the photos, in real life its not so bad just covered in moss and crap. i think we might take a quick mould off it if theres any interest it seems a shame to just sell it as a one off to someone. the photos dont show the shape well either, ill clean it up and get some better shots, it does look like a proper scaled down version of the spyder 962s

Hi Fellas

I thought I would give you an update as some of you seemed interested.

Well, not am great deal has happened! I have found out the supplied engine doesn't fit so need a new one. I am waiting for it to get a bot warmer before spending hours in the shed building it.

I have started to question the choice of livery though! I know I DON'T want it in Martini Racing colours as its a bit obvious, I was thinking of the following choices:

1. Vaillant

2. John Paul Racing

3. Phillippe Salvet

4. Pink Kremer Car

What do you all think would look best? I am thinking Vaillant or am I missing another cool looking 935?

Thanks
