A quick update (for those that are interested!!)

The chassis has gone off to be built as I have worked out I have no idea! I am about to buy a either a Honda GX160 or GX200 engine for it (does anyone have any experience of these?).

I also want to sell and brand new Robin EY20 engine (1973 vintage I think) that is still in its original packaging, box etc. Its got to be worth something!

If I can get it finished in time it may make it to the Goodwood Festival of Speed as Wera are being super helpful with logos etc and they will have a stand at the festival.

So, there we have it. Anyone with any help or suggestions very welcome.

After my last post I was contacted by someone else on here who bought one and could do with a bit of help and advice - if they are still on PH please get back in touch!

Thanks

Ben

Collecting the chassis on Saturday, all built up and ready to roll.

I will then get the body test fitted and 100% happy then its off to the spray shop for the final colour decision.

I am still not sure, ideas?:

Wera
Vaillant
Jaegermeister
Philipe Salvet (1979 Le Mans winner) - I think this may be more period for Le Mans Classic.

Once the body is test fitted and off to be painted I will strip the chassis down and get the frame blasted and re powdercoated to match the eventual livery.

There was a chap on here who bought the rest of the moulds etc but I can't get hold of him - if you are ready this please get in contact!

Thanks

I am thinking of buying a 962 shell for the kart as well. Would anyone be interested? It will be a mould taken off the shell pictures earlier in this thread. The price will be £325 if 4 people want one or £217 if 6 people want one.

Please let me know if anyone is interested, imagine it in Rothamans or NewMan colours!!!!!

Hi, I have a Honda Pro-kart that uses twin GX160 engines. Quick enough and great fun since a few of us all bought similar spec karts for a bit of fun.

I don't know how quick a single 160 motor would be in your car but I'm guessing this is just for fun and that you don't actually plan on racing? Is there a class for bodied karts?

If what I'm guessing is correct then any motor will propel it, but if there is a class for them, then obviously you need to check out the rules and go with that.

As for the shells I may be interested in one, but I can't get my head around how a kart will still be eligible for anything once a big body is plonked onto. smile

Looks mega cool though and I'd love to do one in these 1978 Lemans colours.
Apple computers rainbow livery, with a different colour wheel on each corner. cool

Like I say though, I'm guessing due to the framework mods needed to mount the body and in the body itself, the kart wouldn't be allowed out on most tracks and I don't have room for just an ornament unfortunately.
Great project though, I can't wait to see yours finished. thumbup

ETA - Just realised you mean the 962 shells are available not the 935. That's the one I'd want if i ever built one. smile

Hi Mark

Its not really for racing, more just as a bit of fun and for him to use at Le Mans when he does the Little Big Mans run, not sure what we'll do with it after that though!

I thought the 962 body would be cool.

I still have no idea what colour to paint the bloody thing though!!!

Ah fair-do's then. Is that a 200 motor in there? That'll be fine.

You're spoilt for choice with the paint-schemes. Very hard choice. Done properly, anyone of the ones on your list will look great though. smile

Talk to Marc Smiddy at RPM Tecnik. He has just done me a set of Martini graphics for my wife's White Hyundai i10, don't ask, she's a massive Williams F1 fan!! Looks great though.

Hi Ben. I have a good mate who would hand cut the graphics. Send me a pm if you are interested.

Hi chaps. Me again!

It's now (finally!) time to paint. I have decided on the Philippe Salvet livery as it was the winning car in 1979.

I need to order some Grand Prix white paint and want it to be a close to the original white as possible. Can anyone give any suggestions as to where to get it from and how much it might be a litre?

Thanks
