Good films I watched this weekend (Vol 2)
Discussion
I watched a beautiful Danish film called To Verdener (Worlds Apart) this weekend.

It's about a young woman who falls in love with young lad. The twist is she's Jehovahs Witness and he's not. It deals with the religion and family's reaction and subsequent actions towards her. Also the hypocrisy abounding within.

This weekend, watched Cuban Fury (Nick Frosts first lead role comedy? Not sure) Anyway, perfectly watchable, though not hilarious. Strange surreal fight scene in the middle that seemed like they were trying to do an "Anchorman", in an otherwise real-world setting. Strange that Simon Pegg had to shoehorn himself in, albeit for less than a second.
7/10 though.
Last night watched Automata. Set 30 years into the future, 99%% of the population is dead and living in cities in the middle of deserts. A new breed of robot now does most domestic and construction duty, and Antonio Banderas plays a burnt out insurance investigator that works for "ROC" (the manufacturer of the robots). He suspects that something is up, and that the robots are somehow starting to overcome their two primary rules - 1) do not harm humans, and 2) do not modify yourself or another robot.
Starts off very "i, robot" or "Bladerunner" (the references are glaring) but never really develops into an action film - primarily it explores the philosophy of what it is to be alive and accepting when your time is up. Quite bleak, but beautiful locations and good music. 8/10

not seen it for ages...
Lucky Number Slevin - Josh Hartnet is brilliant as are Bruce Willis, Ben, Morgan. It's brilliantly type cast and even though I'd seen it before I made more connections second time round, but then I am a bit dense the plot hangs together so well & there is no moment in the film that I found dull. 8/10

Really enjoyed it and the ending wasn't something we saw coming.
Recommended.
Wolf Of Wall Street. Was told it was a good film. Hated it.
Mosquito Squadron - watched this with my with my 9 year old son who loves WW2 films. Not a very good film although he enjoyed it so we then watched 633 Squadron which is far better. He loved that one!
Currently watching Saturday Night Fever. Truly awful film with some dreadful acting however it has got a great soundtrack.
Staying Alive is being shown straight afterwards so a good night for some decent proper 'disco' music. Sad I know but hey ho.

Yeah that bugged me too.Just go and see it.

It wasn't even out of the way in the background, it was right behind then main character when the camera was on him!
To think that not one crew or cast member noticed it!
That was about the Aventador poster in Dallas Buyers Club!
Anyways, last night I saw The Equalizer
It was ok. Very unrealistic, I didn't care about the characters and the plot got a bit silly towards the end.
Far from Denzel's finest.
6/10

Saw it yesterday. Not impressed to be honest. Started looking at my watch about an hour and a half in wondering how long it had left.Just go and see it.
8.5/10
The plot has several holes that are so big you could drive a Routemaster bus through them.
Bit of a let down given all the hype.

Wondered where I had seen one of the girls in it. Turned out she was in the blurred lines video.
