Just got back from watching the Imitation Game.... All I can say is: watch it! Absolutely superb. Benedict Cumberbatch plays his role absolutely brilliantly, and the story is told superbly. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 8.5/10

Begin Again. Whilst it's a fairly straightforward storyline I rather enjoyed it. Decent chemistry between Ruffalo and Knightly. Was surprised by Knightlys singing, listening to the soundtrack on Spotify at the moment.

Saw Hunger Games on Friday night, cinema was rammed.

Wasn't sure it was going to be any good if I'm honest, but it was very good - started slowly and ramped up nicely. Left it set up nicely (obviously) for pt.2.

Funnily enough I hated that bit, it was all too Facebook and like if this the most heart warming thing you've ever seen. Didn't much like the bit at the beginning either, showing recruits going through their training. Seemed to be setting the film up for a hell yeah I'm double hard f*ck you mom's apple pie saves the day type effort that the Americans love to churn out. I can imagine cinemas throughout the US packed with punters standing up cheering every time Mark Wahlberg shot someone.

The film itself, if you ignore the cheesefest at the beginning and end isn't bad, but to me it doesn't show the American military in a good light with the operation being one continual bodge into another, but WTF, we're Mercans right, bring a few more to the fight and we'll kill 'em all, we're f'in hard and f'in smart like that. Same with Captain Phillips, if they'd just listened in the first place, they wouldn't have needed to send in half the fleet to rescue him.

I saw this today and totally disagree.

Incredibly slow and clearly a money making exercise. You could have edited it down to 30 minutes and not lost anything. Complete and utter waste of time.

Just re-watched The 5th Element - this film came close to being totally ruined by Chris Tucker but just about manages to hold on to be a very enjoyable film

Saw this last night and totally agree, it was fantastic! Cumberbatch definitely deserves something for it although I get the feeling they'll be plenty of pedants out there ready to pick out any historical inaccuracies which is a shame.

It's such an incredible story, depressing and triumphant in equal measures. Really good watch.

Hercules, with The Rock!

Wasn't expected much, but was pleasantly surprised, pretty good supporting cast as well - I was expecting it to be a Wrath of the Titans type film but it was more along the lines of 300 / Spartacus (TV Series)

Lucy

Better than the trailer.
Do NOT waste time or money watching this film!

No depth of character in any of them, utterly confused film that doesn't know if it's sci-fi, action, comedy or just a crock of st. I'm going with the latter.

A really good concept that's executed terribly. Watch porn for better story lines.
The trailer put me off immediately the first time I saw it by revealing the film's premise is that humans only use 10% of their brains and that Lucy uses all of it.

The "10%" theory was debunked years ago. So I immediately filed the film under "junk science" and didn't bother any further.
I finally just saw this and what can I say - LOVED IT!

It's Besson at his ludicrous, stupid best. Just plan simple fun. And when Lucy touched Lucy? Sublime.

It's just a big, dumb, brain-out lump of French sci-fi and the world needs more of that (even if it was, presumably, pandering to Eastern financing).

So what if the whole premise is non-sensical, just go with it.

The only negative for me was the 90% CGI car chase. First, that it was shoe-horned into the film (it is a Besson film, after all). Second, because it was just a rehash of what Besson's done many times before. Third, because most of it was CGI and poorly-done CGI at that.

The Hunt is definitely one of the best films of recent years. Mikkelsen is absolutely superb.

Watched a couple of Mads Mikkelsen films this weekend; he's the bad guy from Casino Royale.

Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas - a successful merchant in medieval times is served a brutal injustice by a Lord and seeks redress. Quite atmospheric, but slow paced and never quite gets going.

The Hunt - won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's thought provoking. Mikkelsen stars as a teacher who's life is completely shattered by an innocent lie. Scary how vulnerable (and stupid, and insane) people can be.

Still got After the Wedding to go, to complete my Mikkelsen trilogy.
Great actor - I thought he was an excellent baddie opposite bond and I haven't seen him do a bad turn. Very good in Hannibal as well.

Nebrasca.
Slow, no sex, drugs, gun flights or car chases. But one of the best films I've seem for a long time. 4.5 starts.

The Drop
Tom Hardy plays a bar man.
He, Gandolfini and Roomi bumble along for hours as what almost passes as tension builds to ...... the end credits.
Protectionist double dealings, cops and robbers and a cute puppy.
I wish I waited until the DVD. 5.7/10

Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil

"Tucker & Dale are on vacation at their dilapidated mountain cabin when they are attacked by a group of preppy college kids."

Truns the classic Hill billy phsyco theme around.

Hilarious, 10/10

Went with the wife last night and we both thought it was a fantastic film.
