Can anyone recommend a good site for browsing films based on rating?

I love IMDB when I want to find info on a specific film but find it awful for browsing around for inspiration.

I'd love to be able to sort all films on IMDB by rating, genre etc to find films that meet a specific set of criteria:

i.e. rated greater than 7/10, less than 2 hours and in the drama genre, kind of thing.

Unless I'm doing it wrong I can't find a way of searching/filtering IMDB like this.

Just as a plug, me and a few buddies have set up a website doing short bloke-orientated reviews of both new and 'classic' films (I'm "The Hitman" being a tad follically challenged!). It's Wordpress-based, advert-free and not for profit. Open to ideas as to how to make it more user-friendly/useful. We've done >100 reviews so far.

Email me through my profile if you fancy being a guest reviewer - you'll need a suitable nickname...

http://www.metacritic.com/ is a great site for finding films beyond the usual blockbusters.

Night Moves

Eco-radicals plot to blow up a dam. Jesse Eisenberg & Dakota Fanning star.

Premise sounds crap but decent, moody indie film with good sweeping landscape shots and a very cool mid '80's Ford F150 for them to rumble about in.

ITV were showing The Island starring Michael Caine, at the weekend. This is a surprisingly brutal film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080934/

It burst my head and Mrs A nearly through the remote through the telly. Too complicated or we're a bit thick. Probably the latter.. hehe

Has anyone seen or mentioned The Voices yet..?

What a very strange but very clever film. A completely different look at Mental illness and schizophrenia.
Also had me laughing out loud.

A 7/10 from me.
Bit late to the party, but I saw The Voices last weekend and really don't know what to make of it. The story just felt like it meandered with stuff happening for no reason. It's not that funny, and I never really felt sympathy with him, so I can't honestly say whether I enjoyed it or not. Felt like a mixture of Donnie Darko and Dexter, but with something lacking. Probably 5/10 from me. Just seemed to be missing something for me.

I'd go with option 3 "the plot was ridiculously convoluted and made almost no sense". Have a look at the honest trailer for it on YouTube if you want confirmation.

Thank the titty-fking-christ for your confirmation Swoll!! Honestly, I've been wandering about all day quite depressed at the thought that we're as dumb-as-fk.... hehe

It was REALLY awful.

How I Live Now - A really good film about teenagers trying to survive a nuclear attack on the UK. Terrifying in places.

That sounds rather good. I normally hate stuff about teenagers. But I read the first paragraph of wiki (stopped there,no spoilers) and wouldn't mind watching that.

Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting you aren't thick as fk, I just don't think being smart would have helped. biggrin

If you like Honest Trailers I can also highly recommend Cinema Sins, Screen Junkies (especially the weekly Movie Fights show) and Schmoes Know. They do all have a habit of being rather 'Blockbuster' orientated but if you're a film geek (like me) you'll enjoy I'm sure.

Jeremy jahns, Chris stuckman and red letter media are all good reviewers as well. I trust their opinion more than most professional critics

I can't get on with Jahns style at all, too manic and over the top for me. Stuckman is OK if a little dull and nerdy. Best film reviewer on YT is still Kermode IMHO, not that i always agree with him.
