Once

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0907657/

A 'muscial' filmed on a meagre budget, with 2 non actors, and little in the way of story...

Utterly charming. Loved the natural performances and direction, you could feel the music was straight from the heart and I loved every minute. smile

Highly reccomended

8/10

Fair, I can see there were some flaws (the very final scene being one that I felt succumbed to scmaltz a bit) but I just felt that overall I could forget them as I had witnessed something so good.

Which characters did you find irritating? I thought they were mostly excellent
I can't really remember any of them now, which in itself makes my point to an extent.
I feel like Im being all negative about it, but I definitely thought it was very good I just thought your love of it was a touch strong.
For me, a 9/10+ film I can even remember how I felt afterwards, as well as the storyline and the charachters.
I can't really remember much about that, now Im trying to think of it.

Sunshine - there's something I find hypnotic about this film. The visual design sound and music are brilliant, and the very concept of the Sun is pretty awe inspiring. Certainly makes you feel insignificant though...

I was about to laugh at you for being a man who enjoyed a musical when I remembered that I film I watched recently had a very similar storyline and I loved it.
Called The Visitor about a lonely Proffesor who finds a couple living in his flat, who are illegal immigrants. Really touching film

Apologies, didn't mean it that way! I'm not on PH that much, but when I do post this is one of the few that I enjoy contributing to, and reading others. So, in that, you've started certainly one of the best discussion threads I've seen.

I quite like Remember Me
Wasn't expecting the ending; which is why it stuck in my mind

The scene where they are watching the transit of mercury I find very, very relaxing for some reason; really like the sound/score to this film.

yes

A far more enjoyable movie than Prometheus for example.

The great atmosphere and score really add to the enjoyment.

Im going to piss on your thread bonfire by calling it a complete fluke, given that there thread title is just referring to one weekend years ago.
In fact, all credit must certainly go to the rest of us for ignoring your instructions completely and adopting this as our "what was the last film you watched thread".
