Mate & I are looking to take our traditional escape from the traditional piped-music cack and enforced jollity and get some mountain air the week before Xmas, probably flying via Geneva but possibly driving (we usually do if there are more than 2 of us).
Had plenty of offers via the ChaletsDirect Solutions Room (great site!) but they're nearly all based in the Portes du Soleil and there is no snow whatsoever in Morzine or even high-up in Avoriaz currently. Not prepared to run that risk for a short escape, so we need to go to the higher resorts. Tignes, for example, is currently open and someone who was there a couple of weeks ago reported that you can ski from the glacier right down to the bottom funicular station already
So the point of this post? Not sure really, just to yak about skiing, and if any PHers happen to have a couple of spare rooms in a snow-covered resort from 19th-23rd Dec, then fire away!

Tignes for the reliable snow. Mate of mine runs a place out there that's about as cheap as you'll find if that's a consideration. Bearing in mind you gets what you pays for!

Good company, i've had a lot of trips with them.
I stayed in the cHardon in Brev' in 95, bet it was more basic back then but brilliant aswell,
Does it still have the mad bar underneath ??

I'm looking to do exactly this too, not fussed on the accomadation side & Chardons looks adequate, so long as they serve beer I'm happy. Done the Le Lac budget end too & it was fine.
Would love to do St Foy but they have no snow at the moment, well not at resort level when I looked on the weekend. I think by next weekend they will have heaps of the stuff.

Friend of mine who lives in Doussard, so nice & low wrote on his Facebook yesterday: Snowline just visible below cloud at about 1000 M this morning. The garden should be under deep snow by Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are forecast clear and cold. Looks like being a powder weekend.
