I had a routine/periodic eye test on Friday and was told I have astigmatism. Ive not worn glasses previously. I picked up my glasses today and both distance and up close seem improved, but anything about 10m away isn't as clear. I got 2 pairs and they are both the same. Is this normal/common, is it just my brain getting used to the glasses, or is there an error with my prescription? I've called the optician and left a message but haven't heard anything back yet. My prescription is:
R -0.50 +0.75 x85
L -0.25 +0.50 x100

They were last tested was a couple of years and they said I was very slightly (0.25) short-sighted in one eye, I forget which, but there was no mention of astigmatism or needing glasses.

Astigmatism is very common and you have a very weak prescription and may not need glasses at all.

I have -1.25 in my right eye. When I cover my left eye I can still see faces/landscapes/objects/what's generally infront of me fairly clearly. My only issue seems to be reading text with the right eye depending on the size of it.
I sometimes wear 1 contact lens in the one eye but on the whole it isn't really a problem. I would imagine yours isn't too bad at all tbh.
My prescription just recommends glasses for reading and watching tv etc.

Thanks for the replies, I know it's a fairly minimal prescription, I found my vision was worse when tired/stressed and they said this was eye strain, and recommended glasses for using the computer, driving at night, TV, cinema etc. So far it seems to be helping but that might be percieved.

I was just a bit perplexed that the near and far seemed better but there was a bit in the middle that seems worse!
