The fleet/workshop blog
Discussion
I've already got threads for my TVR and Mini but thought people might be interested to see some of the other cars in our fleet and bits and bobs in our workshop.
First a bit of car history...
Learned to drive in a bright yellow Cinquecento Sporting - massively fun little car, could be quite tempted to have another if the opportunity arose. Ran a Peugeot 106 for a while which handled well but was dog slow being a 1.1. No pictures of either of these on my computer unfortunately.
Then bought a Mk3 GTI which was a step up in performance although looking back was too soft and wallowy. It did however have leather interior and felt seriously comfortable and grown up compared to the Cinquecento. It served me well travelling up and down between Newcastle for quite a while too.
This was replaced by a 16v Corrado, which was a beautiful thing and the only car I've regretted selling. It had been well looked after, had had a recent respray and looked spot on. Took it to Le Mans and it didn't miss a beat - the only problem was the searing heat and no air con!

After the Corrado came the TVR...
Which I used as a daily driver for a year before moving to London for uni. The car stayed under a cover on my parents' drive for 4 years and by the time I'd moved back it was predictably mouldy - restoration thread
While at uni I drove a Mk2 GTI which I co-owned with my girlfriend at the time, brilliant car, would definitely have another if unmolested ones weren't so hard to find and expensive.
I moved back after being made redundant and as my dad had decided to take early retirement and set up a workshop to tinker with cars this was the ideal time to sort it out.
One of the first projects was restoring his old MGB GT, which became my daily driver for a while once completed.

A while ago we were asked to get an old Morris 1000 going for a friend. It had been stood in a very damp garage for a number of years and took a while to extract!
Took it to the workshop and gave it a wash down to see what we were working with...
Unfortunately when we got underneath it we found that almost everything structural underneath was compromised. It was certainly beyond our ability to repair and not within the budget we had to work with. It did have working trafficators though!
A real shame as a lot of time had obviously been spent on the bodywork and presumably the underneath was sound when it was put into storage but time and damp had knackered it.
