One from tonights short, breezy spin after work. Wearing new 'best' wheels after finding cracks in 4 places on my rear Ksyrium Elite. Thankfully just inside warranty, but less than ideal. Still, I'd been dithering over whether or not to get new wheels for some time, so seemed the perfect excuse...

Quick short early morning ride to Earlswood Lakes today, just for a shakedown on my New Scot Foil build.

Sorry for poor IPhone photo quality.

Lovely morning for a ride out though!

Appleton reservoir this afternoon, a cracking day for it. If a bit too toasty at times.

Endes up doing 34 miles, mostly on canal towpaths and gravel footpaths.

Had to take some paperwork to the bank so thought I'd take the bike and have little ride. Ended up doing 31 miles, loads more than planned.

Stopped at Pinewood. Cue argument with rentacop.

Was far too hot to take any photos.

But when I got home I realised that the Strava trace looked quite amusing. hehe

Yeah, have had numerous far worse incidents with my MTB. Doesn't happen that often on the road bike.

I do, yes. Ew to you too hehe

Why?

You do know the pros only do it as it makes the after-ride massages every day a lot easier...

Bimble over to Combe on Friday with EddH, trackday was a bit pants, nothing that special there.... apart from the 1300cc GSXR engined Reliant Kitten....

Bike now resplendent with 50mm Chinese carbon clinchers from 2011cycling2011 from ebay. Feel nice, especially when cornering quickly on tight bends. They are 23mm wide and I'm running 23mm tyres which seem to be a bit too narrow but I'll change to wider tyres later in the year and see if it makes a difference.

If people want a comfy bike for long distances, pencil thin, bowed seat stays are the way forwards....

Forced stop when out this morning, due to the loss of rear shifting, later found to be the di2 cable loose at. The front shifter, but guess what, I did not have the insertion tool with me so could not get it back in. Had to ride all the way home in one rear gear, and the front two rings! Doh!

I will take this tool with me on every ride now!

It made me think of the Benjamin Franklin Quote, " for the sake of a nail, the shoe was lost, ....... Etc etc. "

A few more shots from the Welshpool area - bloody windy today!

- a hint of what 'Long Mountain' has in store......

- the 'lump' in the background is 'Long Mountain' - from the start of the ascent to the finish of the descent is about 9-ish miles, good fun but you know you have ridden it by the end!!!

Hmmmm. "Long Mountain"?

At 408 metres it's more of a 'hill' than a 'mountain'. Although we Welsh have a funny habit of calling most hills 'mountains', whereas the Scots tend to say 'hill' when the rest of us would yell 'mountain' wink
