There are a 3 or 4 2008 models on cazone.ie around the €89K mark.

There is a 2007 model asking €79K

They have all been for sale for quite sometime now. One in particular is for sale for a couple of years.

When will we see the prices of these hit around €50K?

Prices in the uk are around £45k have been looking at the prices of them as last while and I think the very best uk price if your lucky would be £40k .

So what's £40k + VRT add up to in euro !

The general rule of thumb I use is for anything in the higher tax band is double the sterling price and that roughly accounts for exchange rate and VRT

Saying that though the R8 prices in Ireland do seem to be very high in comparison to the alternatives, personally I don't think a 80k 07 R8 is an attractive prospect, and judging by the stagnant nature of their sales I'm not alone!

And there I was thinking I was the only one looking at them right now.

coffee

That €79k one is R-tronic and the cheapest manual is advertised for €89k.

As you say they have been advertised for a while now and are still there.

A UK one converted from STG£ to € plus VRT may not be too far off those prices but you should have a lot more spec of cars to choose from.

So, who'll be the next Irish poster on PH to put their ar5e in an R8?

There are only a handful of R8's (4 or 5) so that may be keeping prices high?

A tough budget coming and the New Year a few weeks away..I would think these will drop in price further soon.

997's have taken a hamerring on the otherhand and do look like great value now.

R8 is much more special looking though.

This is very similar to a conversation I hade with another PH regular at the C&C in Dublin today.

Another car starting to come into the affordable category is the Nissan GT-R and that's a serious amount of car for the money as well.

GT-Rs in general.

This is the cheapest one on PH at present ...

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

... and even when the price is "doubled" to give a rough conversion to euro plus VRT it's relatively cheap when compared to many other supercars.

Unfortunately they'll probably depreciate faster than something like a Gallardo.

As for how many there are .... I reckon I've seen 3 on Irish plates.

Any of you Irish GT-R owners on here actually know how many there are?

Nice. Would have been perfect if it was a manual. R-Tronic is a bit pants by all accounts in a car like this.

I was looking at trading in the M3 for an R8 about two years ago or so, whenever e92 M3s were fetching the upper 40,000 mark, there were a couple of 08 R8's at 60/65, I figured give it a year or so these will drop more than mine lessoning the gap, only it seems they've all shot up to the high 80's!! wish mine did this!

These two Gallardo are advertised at the lowest advertised prices I've seen for a couple of years ....

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

and

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

..... and I admit if I had the cash lying around I'd probably be heading to Kent for a test drive.

Also there was an orange 05 gallardo here on Irish plates that apparently was up at 55k and sold within the day, I absolutely love them, A car I did debate over but then the maintenance costs... not worth it at all!

Will make you sick!

You'd nearly want 20k put aside running costs, a cheap gallardo is none existent,

That is shocking! Serious bills every few thousand miles. not much point in owning one if you're afraid to drive it in case the arse falls out of the clutch

When did the Irish registered orange one sell for that money?

Was that the journalist fellas (Michael O'Doherty I think) one?

It was about a year and a half ago or so, I'm not sure exactly if it was sold or just put up and then put as sold for publicity reasons,

All I know is I saw it online one evening, instantly wanted to call but it was after hours, checked the next morning to get the number and it was gone,

This one I think
I'm confused if it was 04 or 05, 04 maybe

There was an orange one on the Cannonball this year, could have been that one.

I have to say it was in much better nick than the black one on it.

I suppose the R8 really is the sorted version of the Gallardo, same engine and basic set up but with Audi clothes on it.

I still reckon the Lambo would get more attention than an R8 most of the time.
