Looks fantastic but its a while off yet. Get yourself a Google Cardboard kit and have a chuckle for under a tenner in the meantime!

Valve are partners with HTC on that, as are HBO. Should find out more at GDC soon!

It appears Samsung are suggesting we strap our phone into the helmet and use that:

Which is exactly what you can do with Google Cardboard now for a bit of fun.

From what I gather they're trying to tie VR capable games to specific brand headsets?

Ie, Annual Triple AAA Shooter will only be compatible with OR, etc.

Are there any decent cheaper alternatives out there? I have a Galaxy S6 and don't really want to trust it with Google Cardboard. Amazon seem to stock a few different brands.

Out of interest, what do you mean by saying that?

I've put a few phones in Google Cardboard set ups and never had a problem with the er "hardware" or software...

I heard a few reports of phones "dropping" out of them and breaking so I'm a bit cautious.

2 elastic bands does the trick.
