Norovirus........
Discussion
In the space of a few hours my wife has started feeling very dizzy and nauseous, followed by actual vomitting and a touch of the runs. I guess this is probably norovirus and there's nowt we can do, but is it a dead cert that I will get it too? NHS website doesn't actually say, hence I'm tapping the huge pool of knowledge and experience which is PH. I feel fine at the moment but if I am going to go down with it, I want to make work plans now and rearrange everything I can for the next few days. Any thoughts?

I used to think it was just a virus that anyone could get, however I've recently read that norovirus is transmitted by the oral-faecal route.
You'll need to be diligent about hand washing / bed linen / towels etc, and put laundry on a proper 90C wash. Washing at 30C isn't nearly enough.

No cunnilingus then? You'll need to be diligent about hand washing / bed linen / towels etc, and put laundry on a proper 90C wash. Washing at 30C isn't nearly enough.

I could have done with knowing that earlier. You'll need to be diligent about hand washing / bed linen / towels etc, and put laundry on a proper 90C wash. Washing at 30C isn't nearly enough.

It's said that Norovirus comes on very suddenly and I got it a few weeks ago and 'suddenly' was no exaggeraton - I felt absolutely fine all day, arrived at, of all places, a nice restaurant for dinner, had a drink, still felt fine, sat down at the table and was instaneously overwhelmed by the need to throw up. Thank God it was somewhere I knew my way around - I couldn't have asked where the bogs where and wouldn't have made it outside.
I got the man version and felt dreadful for about a week. My wife got it and she was OK after a couple of days.
Quarantine yourself. Wait two days after symptoms have stopped before emerging. If you have two bathrooms, use one each for the duration. Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration. I lost a pound in weight a day for eleven days and had severe stomach cramps and the shivers - it can be very nasty!
Aha - we may be in luck here. It started after we had been out in the car and she was complaining about her ear hurting a bit. She has now stopped vomitting and is having a cup of tea and thinks it may be a repeat of an ear infection she got a while back as she actually feels dizzy with head movement. When she had this before, we drove back from Lincoln to Bromley on a Sunday afternoon, non-stop, and she sat in the car without moving for four hours. As soon as I stopped, she just opened the door, leaned out and threw up,(good girl as I didn't fancy cleaning sick out of the GT3!) and she says she feels the same now. So, fingers crossed...................spare bed is sorted anyway and I have let her have exclusive use of the upstairs bathroom for now.
If it's Noro then as well as spreading on anything she or her bodily fluids touch it can also be airborn and get on carpets, curtains etc. in the vicinity of where she pukes or squits. Wash all bedding and towels at at least 60c and try and disinfect all surfaces and keep washing your hands and tell her to wash hers. Don't go to A&E or the doctors as there is nothing they can do and she'll only spread waste their time and it further.
Hopefully it may just be a vertigo attack

Urgh...
About an hour i had a very bad stomach and it has resulted in some chronic diarrhoea, probably the worst i have ever experienced. Felt quite sick but i luckily nothing happened.
Not sure whether i have the Norovirus or not because overall, i'm a little better now.
There are many ways i could have caught it though, earlier this week i went into town and then to Curry's to look at the new iPad 4, iPad Mini and Nexus 7. Many people were touching the devices before me so the germs could easily have spread onwards i guess.
Let's hope i'll be okay in the coming days.
