Hello

Need some advice please.

Looking at a couple of cars at Grange in Brentwood,Essex.

They have a couple of AM Advantage around the £40k both low mileage

Have to Arrange a test drive, bearing in mind I am used to driving a Freelander 2 and a Boxster, is there anything I should be looking out for ?

Anyone had dealings with the garage?

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks in advance

Before jumping in too far, make sure you've ordered and read Grants book (linky at top of the AM forum). Best few £ you can spend and could save you ££££.

I think the main thing for me coming from a more conventional car was the high scuttle of the AM, the window line makes visibility at low speed and angled junctions more challenging.

You get used to it pretty quickly but was a major adjustment from my previous car. As with most cars, make sure it's been serviced on schedule, good tyres, brakes and all the electrics work smile

From a dealer perspective I bought from Grange and deal with them and they have been great to deal with.

I didn't buy mine from Grange but they are doing some warranty work for me, they've been very good so far.

How low is low mileage? People can often skip the annual service because of it (unacceptable) and like all cars, they suffer from lack of use.

As above, look out for the service schedule, usual consumable items. Because they are hand assembled they tend to have more fixture and fitting issues but these are usually put right under warranty. Mechanically they are a very sound car, contrary to what is often said on the Porsche forum.

Having just bought. a Boxster for my wife, you will find the Vantage very different to drive, but they are a daily driver too, not highly strung, and for me, a fabulous experience to drive out.

Have some test drives, and best of luck with your choice!

I didnt think AM dealers were allowed to have vehicles on the forecourt that have skipped services???

They can do what they want I would imagine. Just need a talented salesperson to tell you that 'it's not needed at that mileage' but also to recommenced that you have it done nevertheless...

Interesting... slightly off topic but maybe the same tosh i have been spun? .. My Jag had a new instrument cluster replaced when it was about 8 months old. The clock went back to zero and the log book stamped to say so.(I was told the clock could not be put back to the correct numbers on my model type?)
Anyway, when i last asked for a PX value i was told that it was only trade value and had to go to auction as it couldnt be put on the forecourt due to the clock change? This was by the same main dealer that assured me at the time of the clock change that it wouldnt have any impact at all on future sale/value etc!!

I think you can infer from that that it would just have been too difficult to sell for them. Why buy the car with something different when there's lots without issues at the same price. I'd have wanted to see the delaer priciple about that misinformation though.

Considered having my DB7s binnacle replaced whent he shift light packed up, glad I didn't as the light cured itself while the binnacle was out to have recoloured dials smile

Double thumbs-up for Grange.

Have dealt with Gavin (DP) and Matt (Salesmen) and they're both good guys.

They did some warranty work for me recently (new roof module after Cockernee John broke it) and they fixed some other bits (e.g. new light cluster as mine had water ingress) without even being asked, so Service dept is also very good.

Everything else being equal.... The interior on the 07 car would swing it for me......smile

I couldn't be doing with looking at a black dash, black door panels etc.... Much prefer the brown..

I saw the tan in the photos, I thought it looked too bright, but when I saw the interior in the flesh it really looked much better
