Pre honeymoon break: ideas?
Discussion
Evening all,
I'm getting married in August 2013 and as it's costing an arm an a leg, we plan on saving for a few months after the wedding and then going on a lavish honeymoon. We will also be asking for contributions to a holiday from our guests, rather than having a wedding list, so this should help.
But..... I want to take the new Mrs Vvroom away for a week in Europe straight after the wedding, say 12 -18 Aug. Somewhere cheap-ish and romantic-ish.
Currently thinking of Venice where we can go 5* in San Marco for £700 each- boat over to Lido for the beach, nice bars and restaurants close by etc. Bars, pool/beach, nice restaurants, are all very important.
Has anyone any other suggestions?
(we've been to Capri and Santorini very recently so would discount them, just FYI)
Thank you in advance!!

Would it not make more sense to have a nice weekend away and go on the honeymoon sooner?
As by the time you have spent the 700 each and all other holiday expenses, may be around £2,000 that could have been used on the honeymoon.
True, but I keep being told that there is a seasonal issue with the Maldives/Seychelles at this time of year? Hence the delay with the "main" honeymoon. As by the time you have spent the 700 each and all other holiday expenses, may be around £2,000 that could have been used on the honeymoon.

Don't do Venice, expensive and a bit of a let down. Save some (loads) of money and go to Lake Bled in Slovenia. A more romantic place you will not find and the weather will be fantastic that time of year. Have 2 nights there and maybe 2 nights in Lubjliana (sp?). There is a lovely hotel on the side of the lake that do the most amazing Slovenian cream cakes.Google images lake bled and lake bled castle.
