07 Focus ST - new user
Discussion
Well I've been using PH for years so thought it was time to sign up and now figured it would be time to start posting up.
So without further ado this is my current car:
It's an 07 Focus ST-3 in Sea Grey, being an ST-3 it comes with all the toys plus a few choice extra toys to bring it alive Full Milltek exhaust, bigger intercooler, K&N, Revo map and the all important Focus RS clutch. Nothing crazy but a nice usable amount of power and torque, enough to worry M3's and the like...well in a straight line anyway!
Currently off the road however due to a split oil diaphram, awaiting the part so I can fit it
Previously I've owned: (in order)
Fiesta Zetec-S -first car
Ford Racing Puma no. 219
Corsa VXR
MK1 Focus RS no. 540
Clio 182
Mini Cooper S JCW
Focus ST-3
So a bit of a Ford person although very tempted by either an Elise or VX220 in the new year

Nice car OP, how does it compare to the MK1 Focus RS, obviously its faster but in other ways.
Thanks The RS certainly felt more composed in the corners but in every other aspect I find the ST a much nicer car. Really comfy, the Recaro's are a lot more supportive than the RS's Sparco's and the interior isn't as in your face as the RS. Running costs are much the same really. The RS felt at home on track where as the ST is more of a cruiser I find.
Plus being grey it doesn't attract the usual suspects into racing everywhere.
I had an st3 in sea grey a few years back, did 125k in 18 months, the best car I have had so far....fortunately I also had a fuel card that went with the car as these things like a drink, however based on fuel in and miles out I managed to get 30.1 mpg over the time I had it.
Those recaros are so comfortable and the whole package makes a great car

my favourite car of all time! grey looks good, cheeky exhaust video please?
I'll get one up in the new year once I've got it back on the road. Have look on YouTube, plenty of vids of ST's with Milltek's fitted Power wise should be around 300bhp/340lbft although not had it on the rollers....going on neighbours car with identical mods that's what his made. But tbh not that fussed with numbers as it pulls really well and makes a lovely sound on full chat
As for the exhaust looking a bit Barry I'd agree looking at the pics but in person they suit it a lot better than the standard tips.
Really nice looking car, I used to prefer more in your face performance cars but i'm defiantly getting older as in the last few years as I find more subtle performance cars like this are much more appealing.
My brother-in-law is looking for a new car and these are currently top of his list, with a 7k budget i imagine he'd be able to get a nice one, How are the servicing costs/intervals and fuel (I imagine it likes a drink)?

Adam mate, if I decide to let the car go I'll give you refusal pal.
As others have said servicing etc isn't too bad, although takes 6.4l of oil when changing the filter at the same time. Believe the service interval is once a year or 10k miles but I change mine more frequently.
Around town you'll get 25mpg and 31/32mpg on a run, not bad for a 2.5t 5 pot but has relatively small tank, range is only about 250ish miles....my local Shell garage know me well!
On pre-facelift models (like mine) the oil filter housing is a known weak spot, mine went on Xmas Eve so currently waiting on that to be fitted this week. The part is about £200 or so.
For 7k you'll get a nice example, I'd always recommend an ST-3 just for the heated Recaros and xenons etc.
It's on Revo stage 2 although neighbour is running a Collins map.
