"Paramedics explored every opportunity to get them out of the vehicle. However, in the end they had to get the fire service to cut the roof off and take them out on back boards.

"We can only apologise to Mrs Dunlop for the inconvenience of that."

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "While the pair were sheltering in the car they developed neck pain."

Shouldn't that read...

"While the pair were sheltering in the car they developed a strategy for a claim."

Just read that, ridiculous. Why didn't the pair of a55holes just get out of the car? Like a previous poster said, laying the ground for a big insurance claim.

We don't know what happened apart from a few attention grabbing headlines.

Perhaps they emerged from their destroyed motor, dazed and confused and a nice lady set them sit in her car, a short time later a paramedic with many years experience, and / or a doctor who arrives via helicopter tells you not to move in case, oh you know you're paralysed / drop dead.

Of course we're all powerfully build keyboard warriors on here, we would have pushed aside the emergency services, put out the fire in the engine bay of our car, gaffer taped the doors back on a drove ourselves to the Hospital, but only after stopped home for a bit the let things "die down" or called our own private healthcare service.

It sounds to as if they developed whiplash symptoms while waiting for emergency services. I know from being in a crash you don't feel it straight away, comes on soon after, in my case bad enough that I couldn't walk for four weeks smile

She should have set the merc alight, then seen how quick the spongers could get out of it! biggrinbiggrin

I take it all back, the vectra deserved it!

They probably got the neck pain from the awful cheap trim they had to sit on!

Haha, did we not discuss this happening before (when the woman got 'stuck' between the bollards) and people refused to believe that this actually ever happened?

I've known this happen to a police car too, moral of the story is don't ever let patients sit in your car. I'm also certain the person won't be covered by their insurance for this.

I was reading the article on my phone when a huge threatening red message on the BBC site warned me of cookies. Naturally I jerked my head away from the screen with gaping cartoon "cats tail slammed in door" eyes and got whiplash.

The tramps on the bench got whiplash shock by watching my whiplash, then the passerby's whiplashed whilst rubbernecking. And the approaching bus driver whiplashed himself watching it all, the bus did an endo on its front wheels and everyone on board is dead.

So I got out my stylaphone and played a sad tune, because when will this madness ever end?!?

We can't blame the government for this one, but if I was an alien and I'd just landed (due to wiplash) I would pity the inhabitants of this planet.

If I was in the position of the woman or her son in question I'm sure I'd tell the paramedics and trumpton to stop being so fking melodramatic and I'd get out of the vectra under my own steam.
