It's in the media today so his name is no secret.
What a total scum bag!
He has been charged with - causing death by dangerous driving (killed a thirteen year old girl)- causing serious injury by dangerous driving (her father) - failing to stop for police - failing to stop at the scene of an accident and finally driving without insurance and a licence. His name is Devon N.....!
The four year old brother and the mother have been discharged from hospital but the father is still in hospital.

Lets see how many "liberals" start shouting about the police chasing this one eh.
Do you think that he may well have done this sort of thing before?
Anyway it will all come out at the trial no doubt.
What an awful start to the New Year for that family.
God bless Wiktoria (the girls name).

Is this the incident in New Cross? My first thought when I heard the news was how many of the anti-police wkers would blame the pursuing car and not the scumbag.

I hope they string the little up.

The police may want to review their tactics for chases in built up areas. I don't know perhaps back off and follow with cameras might be plausible in London in future?

What I do know is that there is only one person to blame here.

And he will get a slap on the wrist.

I wonder if he has a long rap sheet already?

And this is on the front page of the Evening Standard this evening http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/girl-13-kille...

Unfortunately there is always a danger of collateral damage when the police are chasing someone but I firmly believe we have to accept that risk. Otherwise those lawbreakers will know that all they have to do is run from the Police on every occasion.

Doesnt help the family in this case of course.

I know what we can do to remove the risk from this particular person.

Why chase them?

If caught they get a slap on the wrist.

Until they actually punish them once caught i don't see the point. Its a waste of time money and life.

Grum I removed that link and a crime stoppers link.

I guess the police removed it so not to prejudice any case when it comes to court.

Might be a good idea to do the same.

That's what I thought, since it's the Polish spelling of Victoria.

Interesting. What was the link that was removed? (Brief outline would suffice - I'm interested in why the police would take it down.)

Very sad.

When I'm a bit bored I watch some of the 'Police Chase' programmes on TV, and to me the biggest difference bewtween the USA and UK police in the way that chases are done, is that the US cops seem quite happy to ram the car and push it off the road to stop the chase, whereas the UK cops seem to spend hours chasing the car, and there main priority seems to be not to damage their precious police car. They should just ram the car to stop the chase asap, a police car is a lot cheaper than a little girls life.

What the fawning John Bunnell type programmes don't show is the rather large number of innocent bystanders killed in US pursuits. It's happened in the UK too but I seem to remember (can't find any figures) that it's considerably more common in the US.

Also, while it might be practical to stop a car on a motorway or a country road it's significantly more risky to do that somewhere like New Cross.

It is all, anyway, pointless until getting caught has some serious consequences. I've heard of people going out and stealing cars with the intention of getting chased by the police, and knowing full well that they will most likely get caught. I can't really think of a more damning indictment of our justice system. Especially given that most people driving in the UK are constantly watching their mirrors and scared to have a pint with their evening meal before driving their own car for fear of losing their licence.

maybe when it comes to court it should be murder and not death by some sort of driving.

Those road wars things always rile me up when they catch the scum and you hear that later they got community service.

I'd do my time as a street constable until I could move into the traffic division and then lose my job when I'm involved in my first chase as I would beat the living daylights out of the little st that had led us on a merry dance.

No wonder the sodding wotsits think its all a game when the punishment is non existent.
