Dear All,

facebook page says said:
WILKO LATEST - OFFICIAL STATEMENT:

Doctors caring for Wilko at Addenbrooke's Hospital have said they are extremely pleased with the way he has recovered post op despite the magnitude and complexity of his nine hour operation.

Wilko has been complication free so far and has made what they describe as 'rapid progress'. Although still early days in his recovery, doctors are very encouraged by the extent of his progress.

As always, Wilko, his family and friends thank everyone for their well wishes and support at this time.
regards,
Jet

In the lyrics of Going Back Home when and why did the lyrics change from Micky Green to Johnny Green?

"Johnny Green" in 1976.

The song is credited to Wilko and Mick Green, though, so I can imagine that sometimes they might have changed the name in Mick's honour.

Thanks. It's not unusual for me to get things the wrong way round. My notion was based on one of his demos on YouTube:

the verse commences at 5:00.

I should have done more research.

Charles Shaar Murray via Wilko's bookface page said:
Yesterday: a lovely Sunday afternoon by the seaside ... to be precise, hanging out with Wilko Johnson and a bunch of his mates, including the inimitable Norman Watt-Roy, Wilk's manager Lisa Climie, his saviour cancer specialist/ace photographer Charlie Chan (yep, that really is his name and yep, he's heard ALL the jokes at least 100 times each so he doesn't need to hear any of them again, ever), the splendiferous Anna Chen and several other lovely peeps. Festivities included an epic Chinese meal, during which everybody ate until it hurt and everybody who wasn't driving drank until their back teeth floated. Wilk's still in the comparatively early stages of recovery from his MASSIVE life-saving surgery, but he's in good spirits (though he's no longer drinking any), working hard to rebuild strength and stamina, itching to resume maltreating Telecasters in public and even speculating on returning to Game of Thrones once Ser Ilyn Payne is no longer ill in pain and he's strong enough to wield the Big Sword once more. And he thanks all y'all for the good vibes.
regards,
Jet

Hopefully he'll be with us for many years yet, can't wait to see him back gigging if and when it happens.

Going OT for a moment, Wilko's drummer Dylan has recently released a new album called Subterranean that couldn't be further removed from the rhythm and blues of the Thames Delta, jazz rearrangements of some of the tracks from Bowie's Low and Heroes albums, it sounds wonderful.

Brilliant news about Wilko.

O/T - Philip Glass tackled some Bowie. Definitely worth a listen.

Mods, if you venture into the Music category, can we change the unhappy face in the thread title for a smiley face?

Caught part of the interview with the big man on R4 last night - says he's 80% back and getting stronger every day.

Apparently the tumour they removed was 3Kg - that's bigger than our youngest at birth - so it does seem miraculous he's come through it and is now clear of the big C.

Happy days.

Absolutely brilliant; it's as though cancer had never decided to take the big man on.

On an entirely selfish level, I wished he had done another song or two. Two didn't seem enough.

I know! Let's go and see him in concert.
