A long way off but can't wait for the timetable for this one.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 24 last year (despite the weather) and am certain I'm going to enjoy this weekend too.

As for 2012, one of the rounds of the Porsche Club Championship will be on the same weekend so I'll definitely be there.

I'd assumed it was going to be an afternoon race as I thought the idea of having a shorter race to not disturb the local's late summer evening, but looking at the Silverstone website it says it will be a late-afternoon start so I'd expect 4pm-10pm as that would give a 50/50 split between light and darkness.

The Britcar 24hrs takes a break in 2013 to be replaced by the Silverstone 1000k weekend. The weekend will see a lot of the excitement and drama of the full 24hr race but on a slightly shorter timetable.

The Silverstone 1000k will feature two 1000km races, one on Saturday evening for the Production Cup cars who will battle into the night and one on Sunday afternoon for the MSA British Endurance Championship along with a full compliment of support races plus day and night qualifying sessions running from Friday morning through to Sunday evening.

For the public, we have generous pre-race ticket offers which always generates massive spectator interest, and a splendid trackside camping facility. Added to that, there are off-track activities, with something to keep everybody occupied over the weekend; a funfair, air display, trade malls and kids competitions.

For race fans, car-clubs, families, or a weekend away with like-minded friends, the Britcar 1000km at Silverstone is the place to be. The 24hrs will return in 2014.

I think the Production Sportscars were combined with the Production Cup cars on one grid a while ago.

Looks like it's now a single 6hr race on just the Sunday for BEC, Production and Sportcars............mmmm that's a shame.

Not a separate race at Silverstone. Now a single grid on Sunday.

Dan, where did you get the info from as website still states 2 races.

I did notice only 22 cars listed though.

The regs are saying there is only one race.

http://www.britcar24hr.co.uk/home/?p=4226

Britcar Regulations said:
The 1000k weekend will see an eclectic grid of cars from the MSA British Endurance Championship, Britcar Production Cup and Britcar Production Sportscars and one-off entries matching the performance criteria of these regulations, battling out in one race scheduled to last 1000km or just under 6 hours, whichever comes first.

The race is scheduled to start around 10:30am on Sunday 22nd September with qualifying and free practice the preceding day. Friday will be a test day available to all entries.

Be interesting how the camping works then. The prices have gone up so I hope Friday night camping is still available.
Pretty annoying cause we usually start the weekend off early on Friday, and time booked off work.

Regulations updated 20th August so this should be most current.

Are all the support races still taking part in this?

Is the test day only open to the 1000km competitors, or can anyone turn up for this?

Be nice to know how many of the 1000km competitors will be testing...

...I've got the Friday afternoon off work and camping booked from Friday so I'll be there.

What's forced the change (if I may ask)?
