Costa Rica Easter 2013 - PH tips?

As it says really - headed to Costa Rica for the end of March and beginning of April. Booked flights, done nothing else yet. I'm vaguely aware this is Semana Santa, which will be interesting, but that aside, any tips? I was thinking the first week doing San Jose and a couple of days peering into volcanos, then heading south for a beachy time, rainforest etc, but with a huge holy festival smack in the midst, it might be tricky travelling...

I went late February last year, I didn't go to San Jose, and mainly stuck around the Nicoya peninsula. I wasn't that impressed by Tamarindo, but Montezuma and Malpais were great.
