Here they are.

S12B WRC items, and yes they're all made from one piece of metal.
The most beautiful a pillar gussets you'll ever see, they wrap around the tube as well as run back and forth.

What an utterly awesome bit of kit. 10/10 on the whole car.

Thanks very much. I think you'll agree it's going to be a sh*tload more awesome when you see it complete and painted.

An amazing road car.

Do you know how much the cage adds to the weight of the shell?

Cage should be about 45kg ish. I don't know for sure till I measure it all and work it out.
I've taken out approx 100-110kg prior, so I should still be a fair chunk lighter than before.

570 mile round trip to see Dave at DM Motorsport today and catch up with the fabrication work on my old shed. I have to say, the photos really don't do his work justice. In the metal it looks even more bonkers than I knew it would be.
Also picked up my carbon doorcards and discussed the rest of the items to be done.

I can't wait to see her in paint. biggrin

Frayz, is there a reason they do not weld all the way along?

Proof in the pudding that you can literally buy a Subaru Impreza and convert it into (practically) a fully-fledged rally car for your own desires.

SO nice to see quality work.

Andy all the strength is in the cage and already tied into the suspension pickup points and rear diff. The gussets are there to pin the bodyshell to the cage to make it as rigid structure as possible. Stitching the gussets in does everything it needs to, as now more weld would provide and noticeable gain in strength, just additional unwanted weight.

I see! hardcore stuff. Will he knock you up some stands for the sill tubes or are they off the shelf?

All sorts of odds and sods jobs being done still. Screen gusset is in progress, I think Daves still playing with the design of this.

Also painstakingly spot welded in heaps of tiny little 20mm straps for all the wiring, brake lines and fuel lines. Little details like these take ages.
