Interiors define exclusivity best - what' your favourite ?
Discussion
Just been looking at m3's - fantastic cars but oh dear the interiors are dire - mass produced black coffins .Just struck me that interiors are like sweet courses in restaurants - they distinguish the good from the truly special . Whatever the shortcomings of an Aston interior they feel special and exclusive and not some glammed up basic car . What's your favourite car interior apart from Aston ?
Well I'm going to restrict this to cars I've owned and in that case it's the CLK's interior. It's in light grey and wall to wall sumptuousness. 7 yr old this year but still a,good place to sit.
Mrs Steve's new 981 Boxster is excellent too, but the secondary switches are a bit awkward. Good job she never uses them!

When I were a little lad my father used to buy new Mk 2 Jaguars. The one that remains in my mind was a white 340 with a red leather interior. I loved the wood door cappings and dash . I loved the fact the car had a starter button. As a family we went on great adventures throughout Europe , they were great times for a young lad. My Dad's Jags were always something special. Sorry reminiscing .

The old man heads-up the group - I think they have 10 or dealerships - alas no Aston
hartley - one of my cars must be similar to your own CLK 320, ie a Mk 1. Mine is year 2000, in the obligitory MB silver, but unusually with a pale grey leather interior. It is a (so called) Elegance model, hence the burr walnut is there, if you like old charm. Fairly tidy interior design, which when so many had black insides, I feel is considerably enhanced by the light colour. It has still done less than 50,000 miles, so probably one of the best remaining. A very relaxing, almost lazy drive, with only the two pedals. One obvious interior design defect, the handbook does not fit in the glovebox (and no I don't put gloves in there either).
Incidentally, I see yours is a convertible, so there might not be a direct comparison, but I experience an enormous increase in tyre noise between smooth and coarse road surfaces. Tyres are still the original Pirelli P6000. Have you experienced more than one type of tyre on your CLK, and perhaps noticed noise differences?
cars that we had, my favourites are TVR Tuscan and Sagaris, Gaydon Era Astons are nice, Range Rover best for luxury & comfort feel
German cars are efficiently OK, with a quality feel, but ultimately bland
If I win the lottery cars - it has to be a Pagani interior for a true quality work of art
If I could only have one car now: the Range Rover

We had a 340 Jag as well when I was a nipper - loved the walnut dash - before they brought in the padding along the top .Probably lethal in a crash but looked great !Jon39 said:

Our CLK was mark 2 I think (2003) dark blue and black interior - now replaced with an slk . Low profile tyres did nothing for road noise or ride but great lazy engine - with the roof down it was like driving a speedboat.Incidentally, I see yours is a convertible, so there might not be a direct comparison, but I experience an enormous increase in tyre noise between smooth and coarse road surfaces.
