I believe that if you put your foot to the floor and press the ECU in, the car will turn over and not fire.

Is this true as it would be an excellent way to circulate some oil prior to firing.

If it is not true, the results could be disastrous.

Any advice?

It is in the manual regarding getting the car going after being in storage. Some folks use this method after a couple of weeks sitting idle. It works on my DB9. The accelerator must be pushed to the full extent. Be brave.

^^what he said^^

It is true and as above I do it after a couple of weeks to ensure good oil pressure before releasing the throttle and the car bursting into life.

Mine is a manual DBS so to be 100% certain, this should work providing both the clutch and accelerator are in effect buried.

Can I ask if others have actually done this as, hopefully can be appreciated, it is a risk and I don't rant to damage the engine.

Massive thanks to all those that have replied up to now.

Tried this on my V12V and after about 10 seconds of what sounded like machine gun fire ( assume the starter) oil pressure light didn't go out. Is it best to do a few short tries or just wait on the first try. Must admit it sounds awful ping it.

5 second bursts is my method.... Not to much stress on the starter motor...2 bursts is usually enough to get the light to extinguishsmile

I had the same concern a few weeks ago on PH and followed the advice to flatten the clutch and accelerator then push the ECU in until the oil light gos out, this is about 2 secs in my V8V. Then start as normal rather than just release the accelerator where-by the engine roars spectacularly ( great noise but scared the bejabbers out of me the first time). As a thought based on my limited understanding of engines I guess it reaches operating pressure more quickly if the oil level is at Max, or there abouts, so I now check my oil that little bit more often.

Yes I do this. I do two longish turn-overs. Just remember to keep the throttle buried, before start sequence.

Wait for the oil light to extinguish, then start as normal (no throttle.) The only advice is: concentrate on keeping your foot fully

down, or the inadvertent start up will make you jump.hehe

I do it too. In my V8V, the light goes out in 2 seconds or less.

Hope it worked for you.

That sounds more like starter not engaging if it sounded like a machine gun. Definately should not sound like that. 10 seconds is normally enough
