Heading down to get married in Cape Town next week and fancy a quick 'getaway' car so hired one...

http://www.capecobrahire.co.za/ The cars are Backdraft Cobras made in Florida using BMW E36 suspension and Chevy small block Vee-eights...

Anyone hired one of their 'Cobras'?

Any tips / words of advice etc?

Thanks

Yeah.

Check the smallprint, the charge per km is heavy.

Obv you will be wanting to drive Chapmans Peak. Doesn't take long, turn around and do it again in the other direction. It's quicker to get there from West side than East (ie via Hout Bay rather than Fishhoek)

Then visit Les at Wijnlands Auto Museum, having lunch in the nursery nextdoor. You will thank me for this.

I saw one parked in my hotel car park when I was out there last Month.
It looked cool from a distance but on closer inspection it was really tatty and stank of petrol.
'Deathtrap' sprang to mind. It was the blue one.

Enjoy anyway!

Well i got the black one and it was fantastic! But they gave me the grey one first and inrejected it as it was a pig and had accident damage on offside rear wheel arch. Very friendly and helpful guysand would def use again. Gearboxes are de-torqued to stop fools from parking themin the hedge but otherwise great fun and that noise.......
