That alone qualifies him for this thread!

For me,the guy in the Ssangyong SUV who pulled off the hard shoulder of the M8, but then continues at 40 mph! If your car is broken mate, just stop on the hard shoulder! Although he was very old,so I suspect that is his usual speed

I was going to post the same.

Me three. Ladies and Gentlemen I think we have a winner!!!! It wouldn't even take 30 seconds to brush that snow off let alone "10 minutes".
I agree with the sentiment but the reporting of that is abysmal: "A police spokesman said: "Not only is this motorist a risk to themselves and a risk to others, the driver is committing a criminal offence by driving with an impaired windscreen.

"It takes just ten minutes to defrost a windscreen but a split second to cause a serious accident."

An "impaired winscreen"? Nothing wrong with the windscreen execept its covered in snow.

Ten minutes to defrost a windsceen? Yeah that'll persuade people to do it. 2 minutes maximum.
It will indeed be hard to find any finder example of knobbery than that. You do wonder how some people manage to dress themselves in the morning, let alone have the mental capacity to drive a car.
How the hell did they see to drive??? On a motorway that busy even if only doing 50 they could have caused a multiple pileup. Was even in the 3rd lane although TBH not acceptable in any lane but especially not in the 3rd lane. What are these people thinking???

The undertaking question is an interesting one. On the one hand, it is so very tempting. But on the other (and aside from the Highway Code), if some has got so little awareness of what's around them (ie the faster cars behind), you're gambling that they won't decide to change lanes without checking their mirrors first...
You would think that if they are in the middle lane for a long time they will stay in it if you pass on the inside. My experience is they don't and some will try to cut you off. If you are going to do this, be aware of this.

I used to floor it and get past as quick as possible watching for any sign of them moving over. The XJR would be past them before they even realised leaving them starting to move over once I had passed, then sometimes moving back to the middle lane, always accompanied by flashing the headlights which I ignored.

Some drivers even tried to give chase but a show of how fast the XJR can really go soon stopped that.

Maybe that makes me a bit of a knob but sitting behind some jerkoff checking their brakes does not really appeal!

Wouldn't try it in a car without a bit of poke or on a busy road.

Seems to be a game to some, albeit a spiteful one!

Funny thing is though it it usually something relatively slow, never had it happen with a really quick car, perhaps they are better drivers or have nothing to prove? Or don't want to risk damaging a really nice car?

How could you react to flashed headlights?

You only managed to get XJR three times into that post. You really must try harder.

The guy in an XJR that undertook me yesterday when I was braking to avoid a lorry tyre on the fast lane. Had to slow right down as he decided to undertake me not allowing me to avoid said exhaust by changing lanes. He then holds up a piece of paper saying this is an XJR before flooring it.

This is thE kid with a £10k car loan

Started with a clc then sold that to buy a cooper s which had suspension issues so he got rid for another clc which he sold for a c30 diesel. Which he sold for a a3 sport and proclaimed he had "made it" then got rejected for the finance on a CLA sport 220 cdi. And now leases this golf.

and yes he does drive it like a pimp, oh and he has a Chihuahua called BENTLEY that wears a coat with a Bentley badge on it
One day he'll look back on his younger days and cringe.

Wasn't me lol. Sold mine years ago.

Bit over the top! Sign makes him a knob. XJR (oops will get in trouble now for mentioning the name of the car again rolleyes ) is to all intents and purposes identical to a normal, slower Jag, only a badge on the back to give it away.

However why should he brake hard to allow you to swerve lanes to avoid something? Surely is up to you to avoid obstacles in your path without inconveniencing others?

And if you are braking hard in the 3rd lane and he is in another lane is perfectly legal to go faster than you as traffic in his lane is moving faster than traffic in yours. But yes, holding a sign up as you describe (see didn't mention XJR - damn! ) is knob-worthy.

Thinking about it, this doesn't make sense so must be a wind up rolleyes

Seems to be a lot more rubbish being touted on PH than there was years ago. Suppose the wind-up merchants think they are funny I guess frown

Driving my BMW M3 he other day I followed a Range Rover with a good turn of speed on empty bits of road but absolutely ZERO acceleration sense which resulted in damage to my retinas by braking all the time.

This morning I went out and about to run some errands and see friends. Roughly about 20 miles and about 1 hr of driving on a variety of roads.
During this drive I witnessed the following:

  • Six people using mobiles
  • Two people driving with flat tyres, including a 3 series whose rear near-side was virtually on the rim, yet still decided to speed through a 40 limit confused
  • A Citroen Berlingo which did not seem to have any functioning brake lights (ironically it was a local Motor Factor's vehicle)
  • Four people nearly t-boning other vehicles at roundabouts because they did not give way/on mobiles
  • A Ford Kuga performing an emergency stop in the middle of a busy roundabout for no logical reason, which nearly caused a massive pile up
  • Several pedestrians stepping out into busy roads without so much as a cursory glance and nearly being flattened as a result
  • A rider on a moped using a busy footpath, rather than queuing
  • A young girl in a Vauxhall Adam who attempted to drive in the exit of the mulit-storey car park I was trying to exitspin
I was going to go out tomorrow, but I don't think I'll botherfrown

Unacceptable... I am willing to join you a in class action claim against BMW for negligence resulting in debilitating personal physical injury, those M3 brake lights are absurdly bright.

I had to make sure I had the rear window sun blind raised at night in mine to prevent my own brake light's glare blinding me!

wink Just kidding your wording was slightly ambiguous and I couldn't resist smile

Edit: Thinking about it now that's the reason I left the road the other day. Due to me still recovering from the arc eyes I sustained at the previous corner and being half blinded and traumatized I was hesitant to touch the brake pedal. In fact I believe I've suddenly developed a severe case of whiplash tongue out

When we had the snow in Sheffield on Wednesday most people were driving about with about 5 inches of the stuff on their roof. I was walking and witnessed one woman braking downhill in a Corsa; inevitably it all slid down her windscreen so she stopped in the middle of the road, brushed it all off into the road and carried on, thereby creating a skid risk for anyone unfortunate enough to be coming down after her rolleyes you do have to wonder what goes through their heads when they already have to clear the snow off their windscreen and windows but then don't bother with the roof.

The nimpty in the Evoque ( I think) who came barrelling down the a3095 dc bit of the Broadmoor bypoass and juct couldnt wait until i got back into the lh lane before getting past, all this about 50yds from the roundabout which he took at an insane speed and disappeared towards the A322 along nine mile ride. He could have qualified for the crap number plate thread but it was correctly spaced. However i think there was a T missing from it as it was

YY64 LGO

VW van, bright green with a couple of bikes strapped to the back. Late getting into the correct lane on the M3 for the M25, cutting me up. Still, was expecting it so was ready. Didn't see him again until going clockwise on the M25 just north of the M40, he's at the back of a line of traffic, all hogging L2. As I approach in L1, the traffic queue slows a bit. Traffic in L3 and L4, doesn't make sense to move.

Approach him he then cuts into my lane, nearly taking my bumper off. I move into L2 so I can see around him, again he cuts me up. I move back to L1 and slow down to 50, watch him disappear into the distance. Very odd behaviour. A little while later I plan to overtake as I have places to be, I put an extra lane between us as I pass and while doing so, point out the dashcam. Never see the tt again.
