As the thread title if anybody can help please. Is it the very fine black wire running from top to bottom in the middle of and embedded in the windscreen glass?

Cheers Steve.

Yes, that's it, and I think why we don't have heated screens....

This!
+ AM didn't want to pay Ford the IP licencing for the heated screen technology.

Sorry boys don't know about the Vantage, but the DB9 is a ribbon from one side of the boot lid to the other with a radio amplifier either end, this then runs to the radio receiver in the wheel arch, is the vantage the same?

Nope
AFAIK the radio and GPS aerials are in the front screen for all 4.7s

And the aerial gives very poor reception (I have got MY2010 V8V as well). Or is that just me? DAB radio would have been nice on a car like this.

Sorry to intrude on the thread on a tangential topic arising but it raised my eyebrows. Vantages don't have heated screens? Because AM won't pay the ip rights? So even the most basic car has heated screens and yet the Aston does not? Really???

Just to be clear, Vantages have heated REAR screens, but not heated windscreens. I'm not sure the most basic cars have heated windscreens.

IIRC MY2007 or 2008 onwards don't have heated windscreens, but the positive is the aerial moved from the roof of the car to the windscreen element.
And yes, the reception's crap!

As I said earlier ALL 4.7's (58 plate)
The two are mutually exclusive

Thanks people, great info but only 5/10 for going over off topic, I'm used to a much higher standard of going off topic in the Aston forum. The attempt was still linked to the original topic and there was no mention of meeting anywhere for a drink, or anything at all to do with insurance. Must try harder! smile

Obviously all 4.7s as they're MY09 onwards, but the last 4.3s (MY 2008) were also without an exterior aerial so I assume they don't have heated windscreens either

Just to clarify the aerial placement. As Aston keep moving things around smile

V8 Vantage - used a VW style exterior roof aerial up until the 2008MY (late 2007) when it then swapped to the front windscreen mounted antenna.

DB9 - Had the antenna located on the top underside of the boot, from the 2008MY it also swapped to the new windscreen mounted unit (which also improved reception!).

When the radio antenna was swapped the heated front screen option was no longer available on either model.

I didn't know any of that, so the new DB9's don't have a heated front screen? ......... thats a bugger because I use mine everytime its frosty. As a matter of a fact I don't know how I'd manage without it .....
