Surely with that username you love the water!!!
:-) I think I was wetter on last years RideLondon than I've ever been on a Scuba dive... I stopped in Pyrford after the heavy rain and between my shoes, pockets and inside my eyeballs must have emptied a whole litre or dirty rainwater out of myself!
Afterwards my bike needed a complete rebuild- water was even inside my rear wheel bearings and the frame!
But I will admit to enjoying the last 20miles back to London in the sunshine passing all those who'd gone out to hard in the Rain storm and the chaos in the Mall was incredible... Was less impressed with the thunder and lightning while riding home afterwards :-)
FWIW I put my name down again too.
I also got that email, with a swollen knee it will be ironic if I get offered a place (I can always defer it to next year if I cannot ride) Although if I need an arthroscopy hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
Last years event was good fun, but it wasn't that wet. Try sailing across the north Atlantic in January wearing the same oilskins for 2 weeks!
I also had to get the wheel hubs and BB sorted out a few weeks afterwards.
At least with a ballot space I get to ride in PH livery as opposed to a charity top.

I've got a dilemma, I am already in via a charity as I had a place offered to me in autumn by thrm, however, I would rather do it myself via the ballot.
To secure my place via the charity officially I need to pay them the £50 by Feb 18, else my low sponsorship total increases. (Although I can still pay them after that date and keep my allocated space). However I am loathe to do that if I find out I am successful in the actual ballot.
Therefore I hope I find out about the Ballot prior to the 18th February so I can make a decision based on fact!

I think early feb would probably denote something some time prior to the 18th.To secure my place via the charity officially I need to pay them the £50 by Feb 18, else my low sponsorship total increases. I don't mind too much. I rode the route last year by myself on open roads and had a good time doing that. Hopefully I might be able to get a place through working with a couple of cycle journalists who said to give them a shout if I didn't get through, so I might try that.
Luckily I entered the tour of Cambridgeshire so I'll have one closed road event to do.
