Looking for a full respray- anyone on here had this done and can recommend a good paint shop in Peterborough area? Have contacted a few around here but either not really confidence- inspiring (clearly never touched a TVR but compensate with loads of BS...) or been turned down* due their to lack of experience with Tuscans (at least an honest professional reply!).

The known good ones are a bit too far away.

On a different subject (same geographic area): would like to get the exhaust wrapped. Problem is my garage is so way too short & narrow- I already need lube to get the car in and out, no light/ electricity, so DIY is not the best option. Nearest TVR garage not too keen on getting this done, either*.

  • Not sure what the problem is; my £ notes are not blood- stained or have bullet holes in them.
Any feedback welcome!

I've PM'd you mate with suggestions for both, right next to each other.

Chris Brown and Mat Smith in Downham Market. Can vouch for both and many on here in this area use them smile

Rich is good, can vouch for his work tongue out and right next to TVR Power smile

A bit further away, but try Dunmow Coachworks. They do a lot of exotics and did a front end respray on my Tuscan which was great. One of them used to work for Hilton and Moss and knows TVRs.

+1 Chris Brown and Mat Smith for me too! Both used to work for Brundle TVR before starting on their own (Chris in the body shop, and Mat in servicing) and between them know all there is to know about TVR's.

Chris has done an excellent job on body repairs to my Tuscan, which has not been easy trying to match the spectraflair paint, and Mat is fantastic and very particular with the mechanical side.

Thread resurrection time - Paul; did you go with the respray in the end and if you did, was it local?

Cliff - you mentioned minor crash repairs by Mat and team; on the assumption they did some work for you, were you happy with the outcome? Someone has bumped me and caused a minor graze/cracking in the fibre glass of some 3-4 inches, and I would prefer not to send it 100's of miles away for repair.

Thanks in advance chaps.

Mat is an indie mechanic not a bodyshop, Chris Brown is a separate company.
If Milton Keynes is not too far then give Rick Collinson a call at Salford service centre (www.salfordservicecentre.co.uk) - he's next door to Dave the Trimmer and has worked on a lot of TVRs from touch ups to full respray and major accident repair. He knows TVRs very well and has been incredibly helpful with issues on mine.
