He must have earned at least £10 million during his career - how do you blow that kind of money within a decade of retiring?

He clearly has mental health issues - remember reading that he suffers from bipolar disorder and OCD. So he's not 'just' an alcoholic.

If he genuinely wants the help then fair play to his fund-raisers but if he just wants to drink himself to death then they're just throwing away good money after bad.

Maybe a number of (and including the ringleader) the Evans possee feel some complicity in encouraging Gascoigne to acts of indulgence and stupidity and now need to salve their consciences

Rubbish, they're helping their mate.

No one knows who dragged who out (Baker, Evans, Gazza etc). They were all in it together at the time.

I for one hope that he sorts his life out, but I can't see it somehow.

If they disagreed with the bloke theyd have kept quiet and their wallet shut out of principle.
You mean they're just doing it to assuage their guilt or for some altruistic purpose?

That's completely unfair and you really should retract that vicious and completely untrue allegation....the buffoon blew most of it whilst he was still playing. rofl

Arrested for a drunken assault on his ex wife again. FFS how many chances does this man want to throw away.

Lost patience with him years ago, hate to say it but he's a complete tt .

Seems to me he just can't stand not being centre of attention. Really couldn't give two hoots for him tbh

I bet all those 'Celebs' that paid a small fortune for him to be dried out are well pissed off this morning.

Precisely this. What a class A tw@!! Shows absolutely no remorse and has shown no respect for time and money of those who pulled him back from the brink before.

I think he is clearly in need of psychiatric help on a more regular basis than he has been receiving. His actions are not that of a normal sane person as he doesn't learn from previous mistakes.

He's a very ill man. One should feel compassion for him. Alcoholism is a terrible disease. As it kills the individual, it also tries to destroy the lives those close to him. I would suggest that he's not a bad man. Rather, he's a sick man who does bad things.

Spot on, if you are an alcoholic or close to an alcoholic life is miserable, however if there is recovery it can be fantastic. Only a small percentage recover though, the rest continue to destroy lives.

A lot of people overcome it leading a far less privileged lifestyle Paul Gascoigne has led, I don't care how bad his addiction is,hitting women is just about as low as any man can go & that in my opinion makes him a bad man. He's had more than enough chances to clean himself up & at a great expense, more than a mr average would get .

One's wealth or social standing has no bearing on the illness. Believe me, I've heard many far worse stories than Gazza's.

He's front and centre on the Sun website today slumped against a bin. He looks about 75.
