So what do we think he's palming over to his uncle as he is escorted out of the courtroom today?

nope, I just want to read updates and useful and insightful commentary, perhaps add the odd relevant comment or observation here and there. Not have to put up with arguments over points of detail that are fairly inconsequential.

But he'll actually serve much less than 5 years, so the sentence means little.

Not if he reoffends in any way it won't, of course.

Just how many girlfriends do you think this guy has?

Well, just on a rough count, he's down at least 1.

The Judge said this morning that he was single which I thought was quite ironic given the circumstances smile

Arsenic, in case he had got minimum 15.

Oscar put on a great performance. Did the South African prosecutors & the Judge?

Now if every murder/manslaughter trial took as long as this... scratchchin £££, fame, colour have been irrelevant in this case.

What's the matter with you? Don't you like being constantly told you're wrong and an over-reactionist by a smarmy, holier-than-thou, jumped-up clever dick who doesn't like people expressing an opinion unless it agrees with his?

No sense of humour some people.

I'm also concerned a 5 year sentence may be sufficient for the prosecution not to proceed with an appeal, in which case justice will never be served.
The Standard was reporting that The State was content with a custodial sentence and didn't intend to appeal.

The one thing I don't get with this (verdict and sentence aside) is the judge saying it wasn't murder as Pistorious couldn't have known he'd kill her by firing 4 shots through the door, yet the judge also seems to have bought the story that he didn't know she was there.

How can both these facts be true?

Well, there you have it frown
I read in The Standard - I haven't yet seen it corroborated anywhere else though, so I'm not yet taking it as gospel.
