Having bought my first Aston Martin Vantage S in December 2012 so had the car now couple of months
I took it out today being as it was a nice sunny dry day for once, and i got a text from the eurowatch saying my aston was on the move could be being stolen please confirm my ID number on a text, I phoned them and they checked my tracker tag one which I carry on me and he said battery is gone and cannot be changed ,so i got the other tag (Brand New )still in its polythene pouch wrapping and put that in the car they ran another test with me driving of for a few miles and this was the same battery gone, eurowatch guy said sometimes they last 3 years sometimes only a year and yours are 1 year 3 months old as my car was first regristered on 20th November 2011,he told me i would need to purchase 2 new ones from my dealer which he said cost around £65 each plus vat ,i do have it coded to my iphone 5 but the battery was flat today so that would not work and sometimes i dont always carry my phone.
Would these tags come under the waranty as the car is only 1 year 3 months old.
When i purchased the car from Owens in Glos the salesman said when i picked the car up here are the 2 tags you need for the tracker on your car they are new, one was new as i said still in wraping the other did look like it had been used i dont think i should be forking out on new tags after only having the car just over 2 months and only done since purchase 71 miles.

Thanks
Dale

I would just go back to your dealer and ask them to sort it out. You are still within the manufacturer 3 year warranty so difficult to see them not helping you out.

Mine were not covered after the first year. Apparently it is a consumable time and not under warranty.
I use my phone now and have a spare phone too just in case. The tags batteries can be changed and there is a thread about it if you do a search, but the batteries were not cheap IIRC.

Batteries were definitely cheaper than new tags! As mentioned do a search for replacement batteries. Better still, forget the tags and use your bluetooth phone. The Eurowatch website has a list of supported phones.

If you have got an iphone or Samsung or any up to date smart phone, get it paired up with your car with Eurowatch and you won't need the tags. I did and I just carry my phone with me now.

Crap, I just asked for a tag from the dealer. I've been using my phone but thought the tag would be a good backup, but if they only last a year it would be better to use an old phone!

Stupid design.

you can have the need for tags or phone disabled. Mine had (dead) tags - eurowatch set it up to work without.

Nearly, that is - it doesn't report the car being transported without the keys in the ignition.

Much to the embarrassment of eurowatch when I asked why no alert when it broke down & was taken away on a flatbed!

Hi
Thank you for your replys the dealer is changing both tags for FREE they were going to post them but now i have to make the trip to Ownens in Cheltenham a part of the glass saying ENGINE on ignition came of and i dont want it to be glued back on as it is glass (i think) being see through may see the glue when stuck down.
Once again they are replacing the switch for FREE and the car is just over a year old.
This is my first Aston Martin after many years with Ferrari and Porsche, which over the years were problem free and never any problems ever with tracker tags they lasted for years with just a watch battery in them.

Somewhat happens when the car is in for a service and you obviously want to take your phone with you?

Well you can call Eurowatch and tell them the cars in for service, or you can talk to Eurowatch when they call you when the tracker activates or when they txt you put your pin in as you know the car is in for service.
You could also use a tracker pad that is linked to your car if you have one spare. So I think it would be covered.

You call Eurowatch and put the car into service mode.

I used "Service Mode" for the first time last week and it was a bit of a confusing affair.

I still got the automated alarm text every time the car was started (so I guess I knew how often the dealer was using the car!), but would reply back with the PIN and got confirmation text that alarm was cancelled. I queried this with Eurowatch later and they said during Service Mode the alarm on the tracking device in the car is still active but the tracking service know to ignore it if it's in Service Mode.

The other issue was getting it put back into normal mode. I called the same number as before, got transferred to another operator, who couldn't find my details on the system so they said they'd call me back. I later got a call from "Aston Martin Tracking" (as opposed to Eurowatch) and he said that when the tracking is in Service Mode the car doesn't appear on Eurowatch's systems so it's better to call Aston Martin Tracking direct. Their number is 01234 759201.

Those of you more experienced than me will probably disagree with the above and have a different view, but like I said, it was pretty confusing and the guy from AM Tracking was as clear as mud!

There are two different systems (IIRC they changed with the Face Lift)a
The early one is tracker and I think is now managed by AM, the later one is Eurowatch and is managed by them for AM, though they always called me as AM Tracking.
Never had a problem with service mode (and I've used it A LOT frown ) Eurowatch are always quick to contact me to check when it needs to go back to normal. Also been very good with "incidents" in normal mode (phone with no signal, starting car with out phone etc)

When mine is collected for its Service, I always forget to put it in Service Mode.

At no time do I receive a call saying it has disconnected from my iphone confused
