I've just seen an Evo VII fully decked out in Lothian & Borders Police colours in Edinburgh....presume it's their new (well, newish, it's an X reg) traffic car.

Nasty. Anyone know of anything faster currently in use by the blues & twos?

Oh yeah, try these on for size (State Of Florida USA)

and

For the whole article on the new 5.7 liter camaro (with those sneaky low profile blues) see:

...and be careful while vacationing in the sunshine state. With all the camaros around, you can't tell he's a policeman until the blues come on...

I have it on VERY good authority that the Evo in Edinburgh is a demo car and will not be staying as there is some concern about how long it is likely to remain accident free !

There are a pair of Imprezas in Nottingham mainly to deal with the street racing that goes on there. Heard stories about German cops having 911s. Oh and there's that pic of an Esprit done up in police livery. Think it was a publicity thing though.

German and Dutch police used to run 911's. Nice ride if you can get it. But over the time they have been phasing them out. Gets a little expensive you see.

However, not sure if they still run them though - JMGS4? What do they run in Germany now?

Cheers,

Paul

I don't know if they're still having the 911s, but M3 seems to be current.

Sure Notts Plod have more than 2 Scoobies, I think theres 2 unmarked, a maroon one, and a green one, and there seems to be loads of fully stickered up 4, and 5 door scoobies. As well as the 5 series BMW's

Very common car these days. Humberside were the first in UK to trial them, I think 96/97. Recently sold one of their earlier ones at auction for £7000.

Beware BMW are bringing in an unrestricted demo around October, which will clock 180 !!!

No porkers but RS4s, M3s and a few AMG E55s but all debadged (pretty rare and usually shared between 3 forces), otherwise C180 limos/estates all automatic with green and silver livery (salad sandwiches). In Bavaria, a lot of A4s and 3 series beemers.... otherwise nowt interesting...

I know its a little off topic but what strikes me in this thread is that the Germans have big German cars, the Americans have American cars, I know the French only ever have their own of everything so why the fcuk is it that we appear to be the only bloody country that shows next to no loyalty to their home market car manufacturers. There are exceptions and I was chuffed last week when I saw a MG ZT (with little union jack on the back) estate thingy as a motorway car, I can understand that if there is no feasible UK car then alternatives can be sought. But what really pisses me off are the dozens of bloody silly little french things that the plod seem to chug around in, I understand that in these days of budgets, residual values, and civilian pen pushing fleet managers, that the whole market place is looked at but for gods sake show some loyalty, it seems that each police force cuts its own deals and gets the best it can from whoever, how about someone in the home office making a national decision and giving MG or whoever a leg up publicly instead of all sorts of government grants and subsidies surely it would be better to say "we guarantee to buy/lease X thousand cars nation wide for police forces over the next 5 years" and while we're at it the bloody armed forces all drive Vauxhall cars and Renault lorries, sort them out as well.........Sorry but it pisses me off

Why not? it'd do more for the GB GNP than buying muckycedes or barvarian muckcarts, and the pandaplod could drive a civic or a nova, built in GB and paying taxes as well, not like Muckycedes and the barvarian sh1te who do not pay ANY TAX in germany!!!

I've noticed that German police uses Rover 600s in Hesse as unmarked cars and some LR Discovery for other other operations.
I agree with you that Britain's plod should buy local!
