Do many people in here use the current Hive product?

I've had tado for a year now and I'm a bit tired of the down time, failed temp sensor and other issues I've had. So I'm looking for something else.

Needs to have a wireless temp sensor as out thermostat is in the kitchen and control box in boot room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

I'd like it to have geolocation, and ideally, multiple temperature profiles eg. To make it a bit warmer in the evenings.

Does Hive do this? Do you find it reliable and to work well?

I have had Hive installed with my new boiler. it controls the water as well as the heating.
You can set up 4 heating and water schedules and each heating schedule can have a different temperature set.It has the geolocation feature, but I do not use it.
So far I have had it for about a month and a half and we have not had any issues. You can set the programs either via the wireless room stat/programmer or via smart phone or the web site. There are no on going costs to British Gas for the service.

Another vote for Hive here. It's been installed around 2 months & I'm controlling it perfectly from South Africa

Was reading more about hive and could one of you confirm if it actually turns your heating off when you leave the house, or if it just asks you if you would like to turn it off?

it asks you at the minute but it is being changed to do it automatically, it is also having the amount of on/off programs increased from 4-6 per day and a zoned option was supposed to come out this month to do 2 or more zones in a house as well as the hot water.

Installed a Tado system earlier this week, impressed so far! Just experimenting with hot water settings at the moment - does anyone else know how Auto mode is configured?

Auto mode for the Hot Water, simply means that the water will be heated (if needed) when you are in the house.

I've installed the new tado as well. Why they can't get their head around a new install is beyond me. They told me all sorts of rubbish about needing another connector box. Nope. Wired straight in as a new thermostat. Boiler is a combi so don't want their hot water programming. Boiler has a programmer which can be set to On so don't need their programmer to do that. Don't have multi zones so don't need it.

It seems to be working well so far.

I have a air souce heat pump, it works on timers etc as normal. What is the best product to enable me to have different temps for different times of day? As soon as the think goes off, the temp drops quickly, so I'm looking for say 20 in the evening, then after 11, it can go down to say 15-17.

Currently, as I have one of those old honeywell thermostats, I can only set a constant temp and adjust the time for on/off.

The whole 'comes on when coming home' thing isn't important, although it'd be nice.

Booked into Nest Pro training late February, interesting you can control it via several different intelligent remote as well.

Then in early March I am doing Fibaro Z-Wave training which has what looks like an excellent room/zone control system using individual radiator TRV's

Should be a interesting couple of weeks.

Ps thanks for your awesome contribution to the thread. Top marks.
Actually I have contributed to the thread & recommended Hive having changed from Heatmiser.

You need to read back in the thread,

Just to massively derail the thread -- that is the problem that the iWatch will have as well. Way too big for a watch, especially if you want something thin.

Hi

I'm installing a new heating system to my house, Worcester bosch boiler and was going to add their wave control system. I've now heard about nest and wondered what was better. I think they are roughly the same price.

Thanks

Does anyone had experience getting Tado work through OpenTherm protocol? They claim that it's compatible (with Extension kit of course), but I can't find any success story on the net.

Tried to contact them through website, no reply for 2 days already.

Can't help with your specific question, however I would suggest that you try phoning them. I had a similar experience with an email query, however my subsequent call was answered promptly and I found their technical staff to be proficient and knowledgeable.

I need to get one of these as we had a new boiler fitted a few months ago without a thermostat. What is the best one at the moment? Can I fit it myself?
