Me and soon to be Mrs spaceship are looking to visit NYC later in the year for our honeymoon and Aer Lingus seems to offer quite a good deal.

Anyone used them before on this route? It appears you can clear US customs in Dublin and they have access to a refurbished terminal at JFK.

Cheers.

While we went to Boston, I have to say the fact that you clear immigration in Ireland is fantastic.

When you arrive in US, you literally get off the plane and walk out-no customs, nothing.

I haven't done it myself but someone I know swears by it, as said before it cuts out the interminable wait at immigration at the other end.

If you book it as 2 separate tickets (UK to Dublin and Dublin to US) then you can avoid the extortionate Airport Passenger Duty charge in the UK.

This may well of course mean paying more, and also run the risk of losing the longer flight if the shorter flight is delayed/cancelled.

I use them quite a bit if I'm travelling to JFK. As said the ability to do customs in dublin is great. You do however have to pay for your booze on their flights unlike BA / Virgin. Virgin at JFK coming back always seems to be a rugby scrum, Aer Lingus is much more civilized.

Sounds quite good then. Thanks for the replies.
