Has anyone tried fitting Cerb seats into an ‘S’. I know the Cerb ones fit neatly in a Chim but they seem a little bit wider across the bolsters and a bit longer than my standard ones. Given the leg room in the ‘S’ I’m assuming the length won’t be a problem but I would like to close the doors . smile

Yep, got Cerb seats in mine. They fit perfectly and the pump up lumbar is really useful for my knackered back. Lateral support is also better. Only downside is they sit a bit higher than my original S seats but being a short arse it's not an problem for me.

You're welcome to have a look if you're in the area.

Thanks gifdy. A bit far, but thanks for the offer anyway.

Phillpot - thanks for the link. That is good value, but not as good as the pair of 'S' seats which went on Ebay for £0.99. Are they in your garage now? smile

MX5 seats are ace in an S.

I fitted them to mine, and with a foamectomy i found i sat a little lower than standard S seats (a bonus at my height)

I agree with Bountyhunter, MX-5 seats are far more comfortable with greater support than the standard seats, once I get round to it I will fit the ones I have in mine. Maybe this weekend, if I can stop going out driving the S for a day.
I did try on fleabay for Chim seats but they went for over £500, the MX-5s were just £80 complete with runners fixings and plastic fiddly cover things.
Nick's even had built in speakers in the headrests, improving sound quality and saves hacking your door cards about.

I must be strange, I find the S seats more comfortable than MX5 ones. Do miss the bum warmers in the S though!

My first long experience of S seats was a trip to Classic Le Mans 2010 and back, as a navigator/ co-pilot/ flight engineer in BarryS1's P&J.
I was suprised how comfortable & supportive those seats were, even whilst changing fuses at 85 leptons. I was expecting to be crippled, but we arrived feeling fresh as you like. Even after the journey home on the Monday, I was still capable of limited perambulation as long as we were parked fairly close to the pub door. ( Different story coming out of the pub though.)

My own S seats are a rare original mix of ambla & hessian.
Or in other words, vinyl & sackcloth.
It has not been established whether or not Austin's first owner was a monk, but not many cows were sacrificed in the furnishing of my S1's interior regions.
Notwithstanding the lack of ambience, the seats are so comfortable, I just don't want to get out at the end of a journey.

Or is it because I can't move? No, S seats are comfy. Fact. I see no reason to change them.
But that"s just me.

Here’s a pair of Cerb seats with a couple of panels laid over the seat and back cushions and stitched to reflect the design on the standard V8S seat. The idea is to take the stitched cushion styling cue from the original and apply it to the new seats to try and carry over the traditional look to the more modern seat and so combine the best of both (IMHO!)

You need to use your imagination now and visualise the whole seat in dark red. The question is. Which looks better, three rows (right) of stitching or two (left)?

Not a great photo but see what you think style gurus.
