Will need to search around and find some old threads on the issue. DMS used to have some useful stuff on their website. Seemed easier to just provide a link in the FAQ, but DMS went bust along with the website.

In 2007 the linkage was changed. It is easy to recognise the new link from the old, the old looks like a 30mm wide flat bar when viewed from under the car. It can be seen on the top nearside of the gearbox.
The other change was a new oil developed for Aston. The biggest change to the gearchange will be noticed from the oil rather than the linkage.
As it was described to me by Aston Martin, the gearbox was over engineered. The stiff selection is a direct result of that robust construction. A reassurance from them that despite the stiff change when cold, the result is a gearbox that wont let you down.

How did they change it? I'm guessing a lot thinner....?

It is thinner, but also different geometry. The old linkage can be modified/remachined to perform as the new one. The cost is in the labour, not the part.

I've not driven an older Vantage, but my 2010 is very sticky 1-2 when cold, are the later cars supposed to be a lot better?

2010 should have the updated parts. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

Try this link for the official service 236 bulletin, maybe you can download it Neil and add to the FAQ instead of the broken DMS link?
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/attachment.php?...

The newer cars are much better but not perfect triple5, but it is worth getting your dealer to check out the linkage and bell crank set-up before you run out of warranty.

Thanks Grant, yes intend to ask Grange to take a look when it next goes in. Although that bulletin also talks about difficulty selecting 1st, which mine doesn't.
