Anyone have one? My patents are considerin one. They have two young grandchildren but we had a schnauzer before and are considering another. I think the cockerpoo looks better - more interesting and loyal.

Do they need as much exercise as a cocker? They have a large garden and would be walked once or twice a day but not huge walks.

Do they have a good temperament and good with children?

This belongs to a friend of mine:

It's 1.5 now and frankly a thundering nuisance. Doesn't bark much but is constantly jumping up at you - impervious to cries of 'fk off!' and hyperactive. Attacks me on the garden path and barms its muddy feet all over me. Chews everything and anything; their house looks like a jumble sale. In fairness to the dog some training would probably help.

My parents used to breed them, like any dog if they don't get trained then they will jump up and be a pain especially with the cocker spaniel genes. Generally though they have good temperaments, are great with kids, all the puppies bred by my parents went to families with children and we never had any complaints. They are ideal as they are not so small and fragile as say a Yorkie but are not as much to handle as a larger breed. Also their coats don't moult so no dog hairs, they are quiet, don't bark very much. Being small dogs they don't need a lot of exercise and if ours were anything to go by then sleeping 22hrs a day is the norm smile

Here is a pic of my 2 year old Cockerpoo 'Spartacus'.
I would say they are the most fantastic dogs. Fairly intelligent (from the Poodle genes) but also slightly bonkers (from the cocker genes).
Very loyal, loving and great with kids. An added bonus is they don't shed so very hypo allergenic.
Exercise wise he is fairly energetic and needs at least an hour's worth of running around a day to keep him calm.

Very cute. My parents only remaining cockapoo is a black female, looks very similar but smaller.
