Brazil with young kids

Going to Brazil next year (this time in fact) for my best mates wedding......
Our kids will be 7 (nearly 8) and 3 1/2 this time next year, and they really want them there.
The older one (boy) will be fine, but the girl is a bit restful and, well, like most women, demanding!
We fly a couple of times a year to Antalya, Turkey to visit my father and it's getting easier every time, especially as she now has her own seat.
Anyone ever taken kids this age on long-haul (12 hours ish)? Or is there an option to stop half way for a day or so?
