Dr Who… Awesome News If You're A Fan
Discussion
I can only assume those complaining that Capaldi is 'too old' are in their teens.
Dr Who's suppose to be hundreds of years old. The stupid child act we suffered for series with Matt Smith (and to a degree David Tennant) hardly sits well with a man who's seen and suffered so much.
I've never watched "The Thick of It", but think Capaldi's been a welcome breath of fresh air to the role.
Of course, we're still suffering the 'oh so clever' plot lines - Missy and the Promised Land (no doubt, like all the previous such story arcs, it'll end in disappointment) - but Capaldi's lifted Dr Who from being childish nonsense to enjoyable family viewing.

Good Doctor but the stories have been poor since Tennant left, IMHO
This latest episode was very well written and suited to PC allowing him to stretch his acting legs. I do get the feeling though DW is struggling with its identity trying to appeal to kids one week and adults the next. Maybe that's why the younger watchers are struggling with PC the same way I struggled with Matt Smith.

My cousins kids are apparently well into the show, mid teens. My oldest (12) has been catching up on previous seasons - saturday night he was catching up on season 4. He seems to have no problems with Capaldi, seems to think that the entire show is utterly brilliant.
Each Doctor is different, they always put a different spin on it. I may not have enjoyed Matt Smith that much in the role, but the overall story arc was still very enjoyable and he did eventually put in some pretty excellent performances.
None of them are a patch on Tom Baker, who was without a doubt the greatest performer ever to grace the role

Rose tinted specs, imo. I caught a couple of Tom Baker episodes last week and they were pretty awful; in fact they were dreadful. The new generation is far superior, and I mean all of them.Mind you I was never really a Who fan back in the day, much more keen on Blake's 7 etc.
I went through some of the Tom Baker era shows a while back and reckon they were excellent - especially The Pirate Planet (written by Douglas Adams), which was utterly stupid but very entertaining.
After don't blink and don't breathe it was don't think this time. Which is getting a little samey.
However a real connection was asked again, after Matt Smith asked if he was a good man, the episode a good man goes to war and Capaldi asking if he was a good man in the first episode, tonight he is told he is a good man just before the shape shifter thought she was going to die. Might be something going on there.

Obvious plot twist is obvious. But enjoyable. Are they going to put a ime travel paradox in every episode?
I liked this weeks episode, some things are obvious, some you had to think about. Like the wayout not being death and the Bill and Ted answer to time travel conundrumsThere was less introspection and more getting on with the story.
